Marriage is overrated...

Not for everyone it isn't. The popularity of prenuptials in celebrity marriages is making it worse, it does then seem all about the money. What about kids?

I still believe marriage can be a good thing, but its no longer seeing as the thing you need to do especially in by sectarians. My friend is gonna have to marry in 2 years according to her parents, but she's Hindu, so its more of a must do thing.

I think another issue is its not seen as thing you must stay in like with previous generations. Saying that my mum was one divorced and remarried. (before I was born) It's also ALOT easier to get divorced now.

I think marriage mentally ruins relationships I just feel that people could be partners for the rest of their lives and have children without getting married and they would have a much better life... But then again according to many scholars I am an incurable Jack*ss *Rolls eyes*

Or you know, it functions as a statement of commitment and devotion on the Grandest of Public Scale, showing that you will go to Grandeur to proclaim your love without shame should the time come to show it.

But why do you need to get married to prove it?

I just wish we could go back to the ancient ways when there was no marriage and you lived with you partner in peace without having to get married to prove you love that person to a great extent... *sigh* in the end though I might have no choice but to get married...

No one said it was Mandatory. Discuss it with your partner, and choose not to. It's not a do-all, or a do-none. But I do enjoy the idea of it personally. Hell, if my Partner declined a marriage- I would be just as happy.

Partner of the moment (sorry to be a dampener). In the past so much pressure was put on people marrying and staying together, people nowadays give up sometimes at the smallest hiccup and often don't think it through properly.

Marriage isn't overrated, people are just too obsessed with the here and now.

Everyone thinks love is that wonderful feeling you get. It's not. that is the obsession known as "Falling in Love". If you stick by them, and CHOOSE to love them after that fades... Well, that's true love.

Those are the couples that stick together.

Marriage is all personal choice. If you feel your relationship is much better off without marriage, by all means, don't get married. I know many couples that have been together for decades and never went through with a marriage. They were happy just being together.

See, here's the thing. Marriage is not always necessary. I think in Hawaii they allow civil unions, which are basically a couple together without marriage. Josh might know more about it.

Anyway, I have a similar view to marriage as I do to college. It's great for a lot of people, but it isn't for everyone. Some people choose to put their career over their love life, and that is perfectly fine.
