Target and destroy 1 Spell or Trap Card on the field. The destroyed Spell or Trap Card's effect is not negated.

Seeing how Continuous and Field Spells' effects are applied only while they are face-up, this should help on a lot of things. Looks like an interesting concept. Looking forward to it.

I'm thinking they'll change it to what MTG wordings are like i.e. they'll just stick 'target' in tons of wordings.

It sounds interesting but wordings are fine as they are. Missing the timing is a fairly easy concept to understand and other wordings can be resolved quite quickly.

I think the current OCG won't change that much, I just hope they'll let it as it is and make sure all cards are in the OCG we're using right now and that they put another section in the rulebook, for the ones who don't understand some words in an effect, with things in it like:
can expresses possibility and it gives you the choice whether to activate it or not activate it.
you refers to the player whose side of the field/hand/graveyard/deck this card is on/in when the effect is activated.
your opponent refers to the player that is opposing the player whose side of the field/hand/graveyard/deck this card is on/in when the effect is activated.
damage is subtracted from the players life points the card's effect says it will be given to.

etc.

It's only an easy mechanic to understand if you know it exists. A lot of people don't know about timing. I had a friend who tried to chain my solemn judgement with trap stun. He didn't believe me when I told him about spell speeds.

The HERO change is nice, too.

Looking good so far.

- Banish is much clearer and less wordy than "remove from play"
- Leaves the field is similar.
- FINALLY, Piercing damage is said as such!
- HERO monsters. Makes this a lot simpler.
- Targeted for an attack is nice.

It seems half the changes are just changes in terminology.

So Stardust Dragon Banishes itself? That makes no literal sense. Oh well. It's nice to see that the changes are becoming more MTG-esque.

Stardust forces itself to leave the field... not banish itself (we're having problems already, joy)

Most likely, Stardust will continue to say "Tribute". Banish is only for RFG, and "Leave the field" is just in place of "removed from the field", such as the effects of Absolute Zero, Aslla Piscu, and Genex Ally Birdman, among others.

So again:

- Banish is now the term for RFG.
- Leaves the field refers to being removed from the field in general.

Specific methods of leaving the field (Tribute, used as Synchro Material, or sent) wil probably be retained.

It will be less confusing. The card's use doesn't change, it just has different, simpler, more consistent terminology so far, like using "Piercing Battle Damage" in place of that rambling text.

So if a card "leaves the field" via going back to the deck, its effect doesn't activate? Has this always been the case?
Excluding Serpentine Princess that specifically gets its effect by being returned to the deck, yes.

It has to do with how the Deck are cards you don't have in your pool of resources. There are no effects that activate from the deck (although Red Eyes Metal/Metalzoa and the Charmers can be SSed from the deck if the condition is met), and no effects activate that activate when removed from the field will be triggered when sent to the deck.

Absolute Zero will activate if returned to the hand/deck because it goes to the Extra Deck instead, and the Extra Deck is part of your available resources. Aslla Piscu will activate if returned to the hand or RFGed, but not if returned to the Deck.

Pointless so far, although the HERO thing is cool.

The HERO change was rather necessary to avoid reprinting every time some new sub-class in the HERO super-archetype comes out, TBQH.

So they're not all pointless.

Not to mention it's easier to read "piercing" rather than that long sentence every single time.

Other thinks just seem like Idiot-Proof text, but it's at least logical changes rather than dumbing down the game.
