Black-Winged Dragon [The argument]

1 Tuner + 1 or more non-Tuner monsters
Whenever you would take damage from a card effect, place 1 Black Feather Counter on this card instead. This card loses 700 ATK for each Black Feather Counter on it. Once per turn, you can remove all Black Feather Counters on this card to have 1 face-up monster your opponent controls lose 700 ATK for each Black Feather Counter, and inflict damage to your opponent equal to the ATK lost by that monster because of this effect.

This Mighty Dragon lies at the top of the black wings. This Level 8 synchro monster can block effect damage to its owner and transfer the consequences of it to the enemy. Summoned by a tuner and non-tune blackwing this can hit the field fast. Its ability temporarily lowers its attack, but then sends that negative to the enemy and blast it with full power. To top it off this ability damages your opponent for the same points as it removes from the opponents monster. This devastating combo brought new power to blackwing decks in the shining darkness. (A persons view of Black-Winged Dragon)

Right, obviously above is the picture of the Synchro Monster Black-Winged Dragon, the apparent ace monster in a Blackwing Deck. Frankly I disagree. It is awful in a Blackwing Deck, the only decency about it is its smashing 2800 ATK, and the fact that the name is similar.
However, people say that this makes it a bad card. It doesn't. Definately doesn't. If used in the right type of deck, or if you happen to be going against a Burn Deck, then it is quite good. Lemme explain;
If you play a deck which inflicts damage to both players (using card like Dark Snake Syndrome or Tremendous Fire) it can absorb the damage you would take leaving all that damage to your opponent. Then, you can activate its effect to get rid of any annoying and powerful monsters your opponent may have, and also inflicteven more damage to your opponent in multiples of 700, which to me is pretty good.
Obviously sometimes you need some extra defense, and multiple BWD's in a deck, however it can be a devastating card.
Any thoughts? Discuss.

I bought like 4 packs of that new DP Pack, and got this one and I'm like "HOLY SHIZ- BWD!" then I finally read the effect and I thought wow, this really isn't all that. Is there any other Blackwing Synchro monsters out there that could suffice as an efficient substitute?

Jus use Scrap Dragon or Stardust, since either way BWD doesn't get Blackwing Support at all.

Why the hell are it's wings red? They are white, but only become red when it gains the counters :/

Don't know why Crow has this. It has nothing to do with Blackwings...
It was a plot device for 1 episode, then it plagued Crow's deck by turning it into an anti-burn variant.

What would that even accomplish?
There is a Signer Dragon for each Attribute except for WATER. This not only breaks the 5-Dragons rule that made the name of the series, but it also unnecessarily repeats DARK, already taken by Red Dragon Archfiend.

BRD - FIRE
STARDUST - WIND
LIFE STREAM - EARTH
ANCIENT FAIRY - LIGHT
RED DRAGON ARCHFIEND - DARK
BLACK-WINGED DRAGON - DARK

Do what I do. Think of Crow as a sub because the series couldn't handle the true Signer Dragon

Meets most requirements.

YES. This should have been the 5th signer dragon... but who would be the signer for it?
