Twilight was written by a troll.

Debating whether or not to move this to Literature.

I'm going to verify this with people who are more familiar with Twilight, but a Google search brought me to the Twilight Wiki, which confirms that while her middle name is indeed "Marie", the "Sue" was likely just added onto Wikipedia for the sake of trolling. I would think that the most recognizable real-life Mary Sue would be Mary Sue Hubbard.

Twilight was not written by a troll, but rather a delusional Mormon (Yes, her religious beliefs are important because she has admitted that it influences her novels) who decided to write books as a form of escapism in the hopes that she could make money off of Wish Fulfillment Fics. It has tainted the popularity of vampires, who are among my favorite mythological creatures, and thus any vampire stories will immediately be likened to Twilight, and the recent surge in novels about mermaids have drawn comparisons to the rise of vampire stories.

From what I understand, Bella is just a manipulative, self-centered, horrible excuse of a person who constantly whines about how terrible her life is despite all the things that one would regard as good. I've seen the first movie, skimmed the prologue of the first book (Which establishes Bella's rather odd death fetish), and found out most of the events of the story online. My favorite character is easily Bella's dad, and nothing will change that, although I read on a Dethroning Moment of Suck page on TV Tropes that he pretty much applauds Jacob for forcing a kiss on Bella. That reminds me, I did like Jacob in the first movie, as I honestly felt bad for him. He is utterly devoted to Bella, who completely disregards him. This is actually one of the few points that Vampires Suck accurately addressed. However, Jacob's character devolves into a Walking Shirtless Scene with a creepy obsession with Bella that culminates in him making her daughter his future mate.

I've had the first Vampirates novel for almost two years now. I got to read that so I can enjoy some good vampire novels.

She's either a manipulative attention hog, or a complete idiot.
Either way, the books still suck. Even if they were intended to troll people.
The fact that she alternates those personality traits is astounding.

I honestly don't think the book was intended to troll people. Stephanie Meyer is just that bad of a writer.

Twilight sucks blah blah blah written by a lonely 30 year old cat lady blah blah blah. I've had enough. Twilight sucks. /topic
37, to be exact. The problem isn't that she's a crazy cat lady, but the fact that she tries to incorporate religious metaphors into the series to make it an allegory about... something.

Cirque Du Freak/The Saga of Darren Shan is the best Vampire book ever.
I mentioned Vampirates earlier. If you pick up the newer editions of the first book, guess what? Darren Shan has a quote on that book complimenting it. I haven't read Cirque Du Freak, but from what I gather, that is the best compliment a vampire novelist could receive.

Seems cool. Might add to reading list.

With a cover like that, who wouldn't find it interesting? I might as well finally start it this week.

Michael Sheen was in both Underworld and Twilight, but while he's a lycan (werewolf) anti-hero in the former, he's apparently one of the closest things to the Big Bad in the latter. The first Underworld film was released before the first Twilight book, and yet I'm sure that Rise of the Lycans was compared to Twilight for whatever reason. Fortunately, Awakening comes out next month, and I'm sure that it will be better than Breaking Dawn Part 2.

That's the version that has the Darren Shan quote.

I'm stuck with this inferior cover that lacks the quote. I love how the newer covers have more a unified design, and I actually considered selling the copy I have just because I want the newer edition.

Quite embarrassing to say, but I read the entire twilight series. Just wanted to say it's terrible but I think we already establish that.

Can't believe no one mention The Southern Vampire Mysteries series yet. It's awesome to read but if you're too lazy to read them, just watch the tv series True Blood.

I couldn't have said it better myself.

I'm well aware that I'm not the intended audience at all but the fact that the books have followers (read 14 year old girls with no sense of logic or story, no offense) amazes and disturbs me on so many levels I lack words to describe it.

Twilight is no tween porn, because if people wanted porn, there is plenty out there on the internet.
Twilight is just trash.

She ruined Vampires. Rachel Alucard, Slayer and Alucard(castlevania) no longer seem as awesome because twilight's stupid existence.
i beg to differ
Twilight did some damage to be shure but by no means did it completely eliminate the badassnes of certain vampires.

I haven't even played BlazBlue myself but still think Rachel is awesome.

Castlevania Alucard I know very little about beyond the clips of him in Judgement, and even though Judgement Alucard is said to be realy girly looking and stuff by fans,
I still find him badass.

And I dare you to find something in Alucard from Hellsing that isn't awesome.
The dude is pretty much a walking Chuck Norris.

Though the damage is a bit more major if you consider the thousands upon thousands who will ripp apart any vampire if they aren't like the twilight vampires.

no seriously, if BlazBlue really IS a continuation of Guilty Gear's sotry, it makes sense.

^I'd hate to be him.

Mostly, my own opinion of Twilight is spoiled by the hate rage of others, but I still have my mind.
And my mind is displeased by what it has read.

I was told I could read Twilight if I so pleased. I decided I would to settle whether or not I actually liked Twilight.
The writing was horrible, the grammar was messed, and don't get me started on how much Bella is a whiny nutjob.
It is so irritating.
What I especially found annoying was Bella's uncanny ability to smell blood from a corridor or so away, as was proven in one of the chapters of the novel.
It just put me off so much, that she could smell blood that well, when she doesn't have very good smelling capabilities of any other sort.
It seems like such an odd set up to make Edward more of the perfect match for Bella, which I don't think he is. Considering he's a vampire and she was (originally) a mortal.
Jacob is cool.

I have a T-Shirt that proves it.

"It's a terrible book"

17 million+ copies sold

How many of you have done that?

EDIT:

"The grammar was messed"

Yes, I'm sure the editors that make a profession out of fixing grammatical problems within books made errors themselves while fixing the book up.
