DARKPLANT RISING
http://www.popsci.com/technology/article/2012-03/achieving-immortality-russian-mogul-wants-begin-putting-human-brains-robots-and-soon Yes, this certainly is a terrible project if you look at the ecosystem, and how this will tear up every law it has about the major concepts of life and death. At the same time, it's so devilishly alluring to the point where you can't stand it, and if this suceeds, it'll be the largest step in human history ever. What do you think? Kyng's Old Account
I think we overestimate immortality; as one Brad Pitt as Achilles stated "The Gods envy us, as we're mortal; we'll never be here again, and that makes our last moments more beautiful." Also, considering we'd be robots, I don't think we'd be able to do the honkey-dorey as good as before; I don't think anyone, realistically, wouldn't want immortality, because it's too much. I mean, every guy probably would have a harem over one woman, but I wouldn't have 100 girls just for me, that's too much. So that's my opinion on immortality of the consciousness: it's too much time, I enjoy being mortal; of course this is just my opinion ^^
FreelancerRaiko
I agree with Kyng on this one, to be human is to live and to die, it's central to humanity and the lessons it learns. To be 'immortal' is simply a sheding of one's humanity. And that is a result that no one should seek.
Legend Zero
I'll be able to mod forever. >:] Seriously, I would sign up for this, even if it was testing. I may regret never dieing, but being apart of something straight out of scifi is awesome.

Fusion X. Denver
This won't work well, for the most part. Firstly, if this option is available to the general public, this will worsen the global population problem. We'll keep running out of room until there's no room for anyone anymore. If it's not available to the general public, people will rage over not having the same opportunity that more powerful men have which will lead to internal strife and conflict. In addition to that, if that technology fell into the wrong hands, dangerous people like Osama or Gaddafi can abuse this power to extend their reigns. Or certain people can take advantage of their robotic body and overpower others for their own selfish conquests. However, advancing technology in the area where humans can remotely control robot bodies with their minds is fine in my book. It'd have a lot of practical applications, sadly war being the main. Alice Moonflowyr
I think this is bullsh*t. Mostly because I already belive in reincarnation, which is a kind of Immortality. Besides. You could argue that people like Van Gogh, Mozart, Beethoven, Hitler, FDR, and other great people ARE immortal. Just not alive anymore. If you can leave some kind of legacy behind you, then you ARE immortal.

Tentacruel
Since science still can't explain the human consciousness, we're far away from actually transferring someone to a machine. The most they'd be able to do is make a robot copy with the same knowledge and information.
Catterjune
People need to die.
This. A lot of old and outdated ideologies didn't die out until the generation that spawned them did. Does anyone not have a grandparent who thought blacks, gays, jews, hispanics, liberals, conservatives, feminists etc etc were the poison that was killing America and/or the world? Now imagine people like that could live forever. Scary aint it?
Me, apparently. Or at least, I know they never had any racist thoughts or discriminated against gays. But yeah, another good point is the old minds might halt the progress of a new way of thinking, and a new generation abiding by the ways of the old one would impede possible revolutions that would occur otherwise. Βyakuya
Never I will be turned into a surrogate of myself. Lonk
tbh, I'd rather have all the minds in the universe uploaded into the internet than something like robotic terror occur. It would not be good for the population, and it would cause people to suffer heart attacks from fear. Having all the minds in the universe uploaded into the internet doesn't have these problems, and we would all be in a digital dimension with internet powers. However, there is always the constant fear of a shutdown that depletes humanity...
