Also, as said before, I'd rather not have the world full of the minds of outdated, politically/religiously/sexually/racially/whaterally intolerant people. It would just be awful. Another thing, overpopulation is an issue right now, if I'm not mistaken. Now, something tells me that these robot *couldn't* breed, but on the off-chance the scientists working on this manage to make it possible for them to breed, overpopulation will royally f*** us all. You still need power, you will have to change out your parts every now and then. Get upgrades so you don't become obsolete. Other things to note about minds, the way I see it, as time passes on for a new immortal, the more that immortal stops to not care about ordinary stuff much like how Dr. Manhatten from "Watchmen" did. Not to mention technology = more government control over each individual. -Downloaded brain data into computers allows for easy "delete" option. Troll hackers become an actual threat. Some of those might probably turn out to be handled differently... randoml flashback with not backup: iirc, decades ago, there was a person somewhere somewhat seeking immortality in another way. The cells are only made to live for so long, because they deteriorite themselves through time and cell divition, causing old age and natural death. The guy claimed to have found a way to fix that cellular error, being able to extend his animal experiments' lifes up to 3 times as much. Then he suddenly stopped being heard of.... This is not present in the rest of the somatic cells. This allows for men to remain fertile until they die, as their sex chromosomes are not shortened. Women do not have this, which is why they can only remain fertile until middle-age. If this enzyme could be implemented into the rest of the body cells, including nerve cells, then people would no longer die of natural causes, which is basically when your chromosomes are shortened to the point at which the genes cannot be expressed. Incredibly volatile brain, which I'm sure wouldn't last long. Hackers will become killers. People like Hitler and Mussolini would keep on living. Who wants WW3 to last more than a century? I'm guessing we're gonna need electricity for this and it's not a renewable energy.
