What Do You Dislike About The Game?

Recommended Posts

Just curious to see what people dont like about the game (rulings, specific cards, etc)

i am butthurt by the following things

effect vieler - i always b**** when its used its my monsters, great card nonetheless
missed timing - sure, it doesnt affect my decks except frogs, but i honestly dont see the point to it, ban gilfer or woodland sprite alredy
quasar - not too butthurt by it, it does take a lot of effort to bring it out
6 samurai (especially shien) - one of the best swarming decks but always piss me off
inzektors (especially hornet) - i cant handle getting one of my card destroyed each turn
gladiator beasts - i just hate them for about no reason

Anyway, my complaints with the game would most likely have to do with me being laughably bad at it, so I guess I'll say that some archetypes really should have gotten more support. For example, we only got two NEX Neo-Spacians, and only one of them had a Contact Fusion. There are also some Duel Terminal archetypes that only lasted two packs, since the story often required the archetype to be killed off and/or changed dramatically.

I hate it when konami doesn't ban or unbans over powered cards to make money....
same, but konami is a buisiness, it doesnt care about its fans, it uses the banlist to promote new cards, no matter how shitty

The fact that, if it weren't for MST@3 and Warning@2, there would be a proper counter to the graveyard centric meta in the form of Macro Control or Macro Beatdown.

The fact that while Wizards notices the problem with overused graveyard centric play and releases cards specifically designed to hose the graveyard, Konami instead makes the graveyard hosers in Yugioh worse.

Final Countdown: It's a stupid card that shouldn't exist.
Self-Destruct Button: The losing player shouldn't be rewarded a draw for using it, shouldn't exist.
Exodia: Should've been banned long ago.
The March 2011 format:
Inzektors: I just hated them

etc. (Can't think of any more atm)

* I honestly don't like MST being at 3.
* I have a love/hate relationship with the Solemn Brigade.
* I HATE Gateway of the Six and Six Sam United.
* Burn.
* People who play for time (taking overly long to make the simplest of plays hoping to get a win due to time)
* Racist cards (Gozen Match and Rivalry of the Warlords....why should decks lose just because they have mixed attributes or types?)
* Hornet

I hate the overall mindset of the playerbase because of the following reasons:
- People that think they are pro. No, foiling your deck out and having a YuGiTube channel does not make a good player.
- People that dont like someones deck because it isnt foiled out. Yes, lets do the most nonsensical thing and put more money into a deck than necessary.
- Players that constantly complain that Konami doesnt know what they are doing, while Konami knows damn well what they do. It's have been for years like this, especially came obvious during last format, and most players STILL think that Konami doesn't know what they are doing.
- People that bash other people just because they play a meta deck. Yes, let's judge people on pieces of paper instead of their personality.
- People that complain about "the lack of orginality" in Tournaments. As long Konami keeps printing these broken cards, people will play these broken cards, not because of orginality, but because they are good. And if you're in a high-scale tournament with 200+ people, you're much more focused preparing for that event, because its expensive at times. Oh, and your 60-card E-Hero highlander deck isn't orginal because its have been done before.
- People that compalin about netdecking. Obviously, netdecking directly without thinking is terrible, because its obviously that the player isn't willing to learn or just call himself pro, but netdecking can also be benefitical because you can learn how the deck works and adjust it to your own taste if you dont like it the current build. Somehow, people cannot see the benefit and just mindlessly bash everything and everyone.
- People that CONSTANTLY complain about getting sacked. I know its extremely irritating getting sacked, but its a card game. It doesn't matter how much skll you put into it or even when the power cards get banned, you'll always depend on your opening hand hopefully not being completely trash and your opponent can still top decking certain cards when they are in a narrow position. If you want to play a game purely focused on skill and no luck what-so-ever, stop playing card games and play chess instead.
- People that accuss players of cheating, just because the topped an event with a rough deck. A prime example would be that Piper Chaos deck that topped once last format. People were constantly accussing him for cheating because Dine-Rabbit and Inzektors are "the hot stuff". The deck did amazingly because it was an overall meta call and was highly focused countering their opponent's plays while gaining advantage in the process. But since your predictions didn't come out, you just HAVE to accuss him for cheating.
- The extreme freaks. Not to centralize, but take a shower once in a while and stop looking at that girl like its a being from a diffirent planet. And I don't care if you cosplay up like Yugi/Kaiba/whoever you're cosplaying from the series, release your power level and than start acting like that character, I just want to play the damn game without making the playerbase look even worse than it already is. And that's saying something.
- Some other stuff I forgot.

tl;dr
"BBBBBBAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAWWWW".
Get over yourself.

At this point, I don't like how the game has just spiraled out of control, starting with Phantom Darkness (the set I still blame for the start of the downfall of this game). It just seems to now be based on how the next cards can be more and more broken than the previous, creating a forced rotation format. Heck, one of my friends asked why I even try to balance my written archetypes anymore. He stated, "If a card/archetype is balanced, it's garbage; if it's OP'd, it's decent; if it's just broken, it can be in a Tier 2 deck; if it's flat-out busted, it likely is among the Top Tier decks."

I'm a conservative, and I don't like how recent strategies can either end a game in 2-3 turns (Give me few turns for me to get my stuff out, okay?) or drag it out for ages (Stall/burn, I'm looking at you). I especially dislike OTKs and stall/burn respectively for that reason. I think you already know my feelings for Xyzs and to a lesser extent Synchros, so I won't harp on that. Basically, I find the game frustrating when it's too fast or too slow. I'll admit that I'm in the "doesn't like new things" camp, so feel free to remark on that.

I hate how he insisted on putting himself over by beating CM Punk last year at a PPV when he doesn't wrestle full time anymore.

Refer to my avatar for my reaction.

My main issue with this game and the same could be said for just about any game with constant new content is Power Creep. I can understand that it's been over 10 years since the TCG came out and that newer stuff is better than stuff that came out back then, but when you spend your money to build a big powerful deck, then one format later or when a new pack comes out with something BETTER and your deck gets screwed over, there's a serious issue there. Actually, power creep is the reason Konami is making so much money off of this game...which explains why nothing is being done to fix it.

I also don't like that Yugioh is very heavily influenced by Meta Gaming. Yugioh becomes very boring because of this because you see the same Tier 1/God Tier stuff over and over and over and over with absolutely no attempt to diversify yourself from the others. There is also the attitude of Meta Gamers that anything that ISN'T Tier 1/God Tier is s*** and you should feel bad for wanting to play it. Those who know me know that I always play Tier 2 and lower because it's different, refreshing, and Tier 2 decks actually take some strategy to work instead of duels ending in 2 minutes because a Tier 1 deck played 5 boss monsters in one turn with 1 card effect.

Other issues include the attitude of tournament players towards those who don't compete in them (Which again, could be said for any game), and how there are cases where you're required to run specific cards in order to not lose, which sorta ties in to Power Creep and meta gaming. "You don't want to lose? Start running newer stuff, noob."

Anyway...that's about it for me. Gripes i've had about Yugioh for years.

There are many things I don't like about YGO. I've voiced them plenty of times before. Deckbuilding and blandly including the same generic staples cards in every single deck such as Brionac or Black Rose appearing everywhere, or Black Hole. Loops and stall/deckout/countdown strategies and OTK's that kill all player/player interaction and are just a procession in a automatic machine, and exercise in futility to sit and watch. My own misplays and misunderstanding of rules and effects which I get so frustated with myself over and must annoy the hell out of other people over.

But it's not that I don't like them. I hate getting frustrated and being a sore loser at YGO (because unfortunately I am a notoriously sore loser at most things). I just find moving from anime/fanfic duels to actual game disillusioning/disheartening. Whereas I imagine its the opposite for others, who are great at the actual game and know every card and deck, but couldn't write an exciting duel for a manga/anime to save their life. It's disappointing cuz I'd like to do better, but never do. Yet I keep coming back and going over it again.

The game is infuriating, yet addictive. I imagine it to be what being on Class A drugs might be like.

"I hate this, everything about is screwed up, it's making me such a bad person, I'm never doing it again.... REMATCH! GIVE ME MOAR!!!"

Ps: I might... just might... have veered slightly off the track there. Sorry.

I think I'm the only guy here who doesn't hate the cards for themselves...but rather the game set format they are playing in .-. I'd rather translate Yu-Gi-Oh!'s regular play format into the following:

Only 1 Limited Card allowed in the Main/Extra Deck per duel.
Only BOTH copies of 1 Semi-Limited Card allowed in the Main/Extra Deck per duel.
Only THREE copies of 1 Unlimited Card allowed in the Main/Extra Deck per duel.
MAX Number of copies allowed in the Main Deck (excluding the above cards): 2
Extra Deck monsters have Summoning Sickness (Cannot attack during the turn they are Summoned FROM THE EXTRA DECK).

Side Deck can contain 3rd copies, other limited, semi-limited cards, etc.

I really don't like the fact that duels tend to end in the first 3-5 turns. They should have a bit more proportionality and skill involved into them instead of constant OTK/FTK, and frankly this format heavily restricts OTK/FTKs and also nearly eliminates all ALT win conditions (Exodia is gone :3 and Countdown is excruciatingly less consistent) which is great for gameplay. I won't deny that they aren't still there, like Venoms and Number 88, but they will tend to involve more player to player interaction which is something I want the format to promote.

So simply said: I hate formats that declares quick winners. I <3 formats in which the duel is actually...interesting :3

Basically, anything with Six in it's name.
