Then I see no reason not to go with the other option I proposed (the normal way of doing it), since that would allow both the members to say who they want and allow the mods to narrow their search down.

Or we could go with MY IDEA! :D

But then people might argue about what qualities are valid as worthy of the position.

Well...
1. Debate is healthy for the brain.
2. At least it shows they know wtf they are talking about!
3. Besides as long as someone get's the most votes he/she wins.

What if the moderators disregard a vote because they think the opinion is stupid?
Have members vote, but if they vote they MUST write a one paragraph essay of reasons that qualifies said member of receiving modhood.
If it's posted, there's nothing to stop others from copypasting what others said or bs-ing there way through it with someone else's work regardless of whatever.

Sending via PMs would be the best way to go, but if it's supposed to be PM-ed or whatever, then there's no real reason to go about it in such a big and dramatic fashion.

The problem with paragraphs is also it might make some people less inclined to vote. You end up with only the opinions of certain people as opposed to the opinions of all people. That may be what you wanted all along, but if so then you shouldn't be complaining in the mod forum about a lack of fairness.

Nudge nudge.

But then I don't get to gloat when I'm right. =(

In any case, Mihail's election/democracy thing is barely defined at all, so it's difficult to say how exactly this'll all go down. Maybe he'll go with getting people to vote for who they want and then letting the mods have final say (which is what everyone, including the mods has been saying all along). Maybe he'll go with majority rule. Maybe some other third thing? IDK.

tl;dr - Mihail's once again being vague and not defining anything.

He is vague so much lately, tbh. It is very unclear of how he is going to approach things and finalize. Mostly finalize.
Zanda Panda is by far one of the better people to be chosen for mod. I don't have much thought into his arrogance, but I cannot say s*** about it since I am not too much better.
If anything though, he knows and is able to handle the Mod spot.

A totalitarian oligarchy.
Sheesh, what's with the attitude. Aren't moderators supposed to actually enforce rules? It's in the job description.

THAT ASIDE, the best possible solution given what little I know about how this stuff works (from this thread alone...) would perhaps be interviewing the possible candidates. That way the mods could deal with the candidates' views directly, and define whether they're "mod material" or not based solely on what those people can achieve regardless of popular support.

Flattered, but I would have to say that Neo / Agro / Caeda are good and quite possibly better choices than me. Not to mention that they (Neo / Agro) actually have been more active in CC than me lately.

Again, it would be nice to get the modspot and whilst I do have some ideas for CC, I don't have those kind of ideas that would make CC a "better place".

It seems like a fair idea if executed well, I suppose. I'd be glad to take the position but there are certainly others who might be more popular with the community due to my fading in and out from 2010-present, not really being familiar at all with those outside like Hatcher, Agro, Umbra, etc.

The most important thing though is that someone who gets voted in by the members should, ideally, have a trial period where the Moderators make sure they're actually doing a good job instead of just throwing a terrible CC mod in there, regardless of who it is.
On the other hand, that also means there are less people that absolutely hate your guts. I've got at least one.

I completely understand where you're coming from there. But back when I was a Mod, I had plenty of people that hated me, especially given the fact that during the time I had that position we were going through the absurd Satorism bullshit. Either way, I'm definitely intrigued and I look forward to seeing how this goes forward.

Even if I don't get the position, I still plan to make an effort to help out in the section going forward.

Who hates you Agro?

I wierdly find it hard to believe someone does beyond the whole, it's the internet so everything must be OTT.
Desu, it's pretty much a fact at this point.
The most important thing the new mod will need to do is work with other members to get the section going. This won't be a one man show, or even a two man show when working alongside Mikhael. Everyone needs to work together on this and no ideas should be shut out just because one person didn't get the modship.
