Sora1499
This is a new segment I'm going to be doing every now and again: card comparisons. I want you guys to compare these 2 cards: Our good ol friend from a couple years back. The current bane of the metagame Each of their respective decks were meta during their formats (and rabbit still is). They do similar things (shutting down anything your opponent throws at you) in very different ways. Which one is more powerful? Which one is more of a star in its deck? Why haven't either of them hit the list? Discuss these points and more, comparing these 2 freakishly good cards.
Not-so-Radiant Arin
These two cards are incomparable. :\ Laggia is a one-time use while Herald, in it's own Deck with Kristya, effectively can shut down your opponent's entire field, hand, graveyard, anything. Both are bad for the game, but Laggia has more of a general impact on the meta while Herald slips behind the shadows.
EmpoleMew
I can deal with Laggia set 5. I can't deal with Herald "set 5, but my 5 is actually still in my hand, and I'm multichainable"
Saynt
If people still used Herald, Divine Wrath is always an option, along with any other condition-specific counter trap of choice. Not much to be said beyond that.
Sora1499
Laggia set 5 means game 99% of the time.
Agro
Herald is infinitely more abusable. I can deal with Laggia set 5 I can't dea with- wait Mew already said this. The point is, f*** mulitchainability.
DeathSDelano
I hate playing against herald decks more then dino rabbit/laggia .-. at least I don't have to literally jump through hoops to get disable laggia. Plus laggia is easier to run over then herald
Synchronized
I'm so glad I didn't play during the Herald format. f*** that.
Expelsword
Stardust Dragon/Assault Mode runs it over. Otherwise I always got killed by it.
If you play it right after they draw, they tend to not have a counter [s]And then they play something like Book of Moon and suddenly have 5 counters[/s]
evilfusion
Herald is better, but requires extreme dedication, both in terms of Ritual support, plus Fairies for fodder. Laggia is easier to bring out due to Rabbit, and in exchange, has a one-shot effect that can negate almost anything. The same effort also nets Dolkka, which covers the bases Laggia can't hit. The best way to deal with Herald is to defeat it as quickly as possible, no easy feat, depending on the number of Fairies he has, and the fact most beaters that can beat Herald need effects to bring out. Laggia can be dealt with by forcing him to use its effect on something semi-essential, but not the main goal of the turn, like Dark Hole instead of Reborn. ~British Soul~
If you play it right after they draw, they tend to not have a counter
I loved doing that, fun times. I remember that Ragequit I caused by having 2 SD/AM out at the same time.
Master of Sabers
Herald + Tethys is just stupidly good. Especially when backed up with Archlord Krystia.
Sleepy
Laggia is overall better design. Is a one-shot card, giving your opponent not total depair on it's own. Is fairly accessible without much dedication, and being in the Extra Deck means you will always control when you have it. Herald stops everything (and f*** multichainability), not allowing as much player-player interaction. It also requires the a lot of dedication, getting fodder to discard, cards that get you that fodder into your hand, a Ritual Spell that needs exact Levels, and Ritual support to get you the setup for it's Summon. I don't like Laggia too much, but if I had to choose^
newhat
Herald is basically the only reason I'd ever use Gagagigo the Risen.
ihop
Perfect Herald got a little worse when Grapha came out and BLS got (limited derp). Before that there was literally no way of getting round it without forcing it.
Sora1499
@Kettleback You mean before it got limited? ^-^
