It used to be a staple Xyz when Xyz Monsters were first introduced. Considering most boss monsters are either Xyz or summon by an effect rather than a condition, yeah, it's not as useful in competitive play. To be fair, it makes sense when it is explained, but your judgment would let you believe it should work. If it did work though, it'd be incredibly powerful. To be honest, I find Yu-Gi-Oh so stupid in the sense that a card such as Roach or Rai-Oh doesn't work in this sense. Thats when I think Konami is just being a real dick.
