I Hate Snatch Steal
Sorry if this is in the wrong section I call it an archtype format. I came up with this idea I don't know how long ago: The "rules" What if there was a tournament where each player picked an archtype (if 2 or more players picked the same one, that's fine) and the only cards that they could use would be that archtype's members and direct support. Meaning no generic staples. (eg a blackwing player could only use "blackwing" cards and cards whose effects interact with "blackwing" monsters by name) If you picked spirit monsters for example, it would be spirit monsters and spirit subtype instead of by name. All archtypes and deck lists would have to be approved on the basis of the cards relating to each other as stated above to avoid saying things like "I pick tuners!" or using "unions" as a justification to use any machine-type monster via heavy mech support platform, or something else too broad. This rule is up for debate, but there wouldn't be any banned list (you can use up to 3 of every card in your archtype) or possibly it would be that you can use the number legal in advanced format +1 if the card is not unlimited already. (eg 1 Destiny HERO disk commander, 3 E - Emergency Call) Another rule that I just thought of now is that you're only allowed to pick 1 type of HERO, not HEROs in general. If someone wants to get this off the ground, feel free! Also once its done, feel free to tell me how it went.
Bringerofcake
I always toyed around with a concept like this, and personally, I really like it. However, it does mess with the ability to tap into the carpool, and for this reason I also think that you could add in a rule involving direct type/attribute support also being useable if and only if there are not enough cards in a given archetype to make a complete deck. Zeppeli Gyro Supreme
I had even considered holding an archetype tournament personally. The biggest problem with this is that a lot of archetypes just don't have the cards to fill out an entire deck with support, or at least not in a way that would make a workable deck. And if you end up having to use every single card in their pool then you will be playing a premade deck, and everyone using that deck will have the same exact cards. Some archetypes also will have a large advantage due to sheer volume of cards.
