So how about those ridiculous searching capabilities? Not to mention being searchable itself…

And really, it's a nice card for a block/sealed format, but otherwise it's pretty much crap.

I'd run it in place of Vampire Lord, though, since it's beefier and isn't as much of a dead-draw (Searches Veiler/Maxx C)

Except that it has to be Tribute Summoned for its effect, has even worse DEF for what that's worth, and can't revive itself if destroyed by an effect.

The DEF makes it a Nightmare target, though, for what it's worth.

Either you're using it as Xyz fodder or you're desperate to get a beater out. That's the only time you'd be dropping this guy from the hand. And in many of those situations, this is going to be better than Lord. The DEF doesn't even matter, and the only thing that would make Lord better in any situation is its revival effect. But really, people aren't going to hit Lord with, for example, a Mirror Force unless they either have to, or they can deal with the revival effect.

 

I suppose in the end it really comes down to playstyle, but I find this to be a naturally better option.

There's also the obvious benefit if you're using the field spell, and it's okayish to make people drop their spells or traps from the deck with Lord's effect. If you really just want a beatstick, though, then Dragon is the better choice.

I don't run either level 5s, just the grepher + Mali engine and 3 graces, and you know what, it works like a charm.

If. It didn't miss timing, I'd be looking to run it in whatever I could. As it stands, maybe tech at 1 in Vampires, but not mandatory.

This is a great card for Vampires, solely for being a 2400 normal summonable beater.
