The First Monarch
Normal Trap Card

Special Summon this card as an Effect Monster (Fiend-Type/DARK/Level 6/ATK 1000/DEF 2400). (This card is also still a Trap Card.) If Summoned this way: You can discard 1 card, then declare 1 Attribute; this card becomes that Attribute, and can be treated as 2 Tributes for the Tribute Summon of a monster with the same Attribute as this card. While this card is treated as a monster, you cannot Special Summon monsters, except monsters with this card’s Attribute

Oh god. It's a Trap monster that provides the conditions for the Mega Monarchs.

This can only go badly when we look at Mobius, which hits 3 backrow without you being able to chain. However, the combo is a bit too specific and costly to probably see intensive play, since Frogs can already use Mega Mobius without much effort.

Could also potentially be a decent Synchro or Xyz fodder, especially for Rank 6s, since the Attribute effect seems to be optional. It's also a DARK Fiend by default, making it useful for cards like Beelze or Hundred-Eyes Dragon.

lol this and Genex Ally Birdman. Makes Locomotion R Genex. Huehuehue

Makes legit Synchro support IMO. Level 6 that changes attribute. Sounds great to me.

"No, you can't. You CAN declare Divine, but it won't help. The Gods must be Summoned using 3 monsters. No more, no less."

I guess, upon further reading, that that makes sense. Would it work if it said monsters rather than tributes?

I dont think that's the case. The gods actually say that they require "3 Tributes", so I assume this can work, but they just need an extra monster. Plus there's no ruling that I know about

The whole "counts as two Tributes" is a really weird gray area with rulings. Mostly because no one has a clue what the answers are because it's pretty much never referenced anywhere.

For example, you can use something like Kaiser Sea Horse and another monster to Summon Moisture Creature/Gilford the Lightning, and since it was considered 2 Tributes, you used 3 Tributes for its effect. But if you Trojan Horse for Behemoth, the King of All Animals, it only adds 1 monster from the Graveyard because you only Tributed 1 monster (Behemoth explicitly says number of Tributed monsters).

And that annoying confusion with Precious Cards From Beyond...its current errata says "When you Tribute Summon a monster using 2 or more Tributes: Draw 2 cards", which at least is less ambiguous than the original wording where it said if the Tribute Summoned monster required 2 Tributes.

Still, I'm not sure what the current ruling is with Precious Cards in relation to cards like Totem Dragon or Kaiser Sea Horse.

Quick looking around at other cards has given me this answer...

If the card says "Tributes", then double tributers work. If it says "monsters", then Double Tributers only count as 1. So based on that...

The Gods say they require 3 Tributes to Normal Summon. They should be able to use a Divine Double Tributer, since a Normal Summon requiring Tributes is a Tribute Summon.

Precious Cards says if you used 2 Tributes. You should be able to draw 2 when using a Double Tributer.

Advance Zone says "monsters Tributed for Tribute Summon", while you can use Double Tributers, they only count as 1 monster Tributed.

Awesommme. Now I can play the gods *shot*

In other news, DARK HIGHLANDER CAN BE A THING N*shot*

Hundred Eyes Dragon?

Dark End Dragon.

Change Type for Hazy Flame?

Type Change list for Syncs

Gugnir

Vylons?

ASW?

There were many, many, many, many, many more. But I was being stupid anyway. This looks useless for Syncs ATTRIBUTE wise. As a raw 6, it does fine.

You know.... Theoretically, you could use this in a Photon Sanctuary deck, as another copy of the former.
Yes, I know this clashes with Precious Cards, but still.

Based on Precious Cards' current wording, I don't think it does clash, actually. Tsk, we really need some official source about Precious Cards and Double Tributers.

Well, other than it requires you to be using this and discard a card to make it a LIGHT.

I just assumed it worked the same as, oh-say, Kaiser Seahorse vs Goryu.

Also the Discarding of a LIGHT monster doesn't seem like it would harm anything. Or at least, in that sort of deck.

The only negative is, outside of Monarchs it's still a -1.

That being said, using it with Granmarg (the Mega) seems like a seriously awesome play albeit somewhat situational.  The fact that Granmarg would draw you a card (thus replacing the one you discarded to use this card's effect in the first place) and then pop 2 traps does seem good.

The implications of the art are what intrigue me the most.

The First Monarch is clearly a monarch with qualities of other Monarchs, most obvious being Caius and Zaborg. And maybe Delg.

It's possible that this First Monarch is either a combined form of all of the Monarchs, their parent, or their mentor.
