Dark Ones of the Kairos and Khora [First Pendulum Monsters of YCM... I think]

Merci

Recommended Posts

Long story short, I learned about the Pendulum Monsters thing yesterday, felt bored, and seeing as how I haven't made a single card in a year or more, I decided to make the very first Pendulum Monsters of YCM~ Or did somebody beat me to the punch? Eh, I dunno.

The mechanic seems a little weird, and I still have no idea what a Pendulum Summon is, but I found both the design (which is a ton easier to duplicate than an Xyz) and the concept of Monster-Spell-Combo-Thingie as well as Scales cool.

Dark One of the Kairos

Spell Effect: DARK monsters you control cannot be targeted by card effects. If there is a card in your other Pendulum Zone and the difference between Pendulum Scales is 8 or more; all monsters on the field are treated as DARK.

Monster Effect: If this card is Special Summoned: You can add 1 "Dark One of the Khora" from your Deck to your hand. While this card is in your Monster Card Zone, it gains 400 ATK for every Pendulum Monster on the field.

Spell Effect: If there is a card in your other Pendulum Zone: Increase the ATK of all DARK monsters you control by the difference between Pendulum Scales x100; if it is not a "Dark One" monster, this card's Pendulum Scale becomes 5.

Monster Effect: If this card is Special Summoned: You can add 1 "Dark One of the Kairos" from your Deck to your hand. Once per turn, while this card is in your Monster Card Zone: You can move 1 Pendulum Monster on the field onto the Pendulum Zone.

I made the cards with GIMP. If you want the template, even though it's rather crudely made in my opinion, then just feel free to ask  ^_^

Also, if I got any of the mechanics or lore wrong, please point it out. Thanks~!

I'll start by saying you were beaten by yours truly *points at self with one finger and points with my other hand towards the "multiple cards" section*.

The concept is interesting.

For starters, I see a few errors in the lores. They are not OCG errors, but rather... ummm..

The first one say it searches the second card. It says it inside the card. But in the effect under the card it seems to search another copy of itself.

The second card is missing the second part of it's monster effect in the lore under the card.

I think I'd enjoy the Dinosaur.

You can basically go Rescue Rabbit > Kabasauls x2 > Transmodify into Kairos.

Then another simple combo could One For One into Khora, which searches for Kairos and moves itself into the Pendulum Zone.

If you did both things (lucky) you proceed to complete the arc with the Kairos from your hand and have all your monsters gain 800 ATK, which makes the Monster Zone Kairos 3200 ATK.

After that it doesn't matter if your opponent nuked your field with Black Rose. If your deck can find a way to get more copies of them, you'll be able to Pendulum Summon the 3 Pendulums next turn from the Extra Deck.

The combo is situational with some pieces at 1, and the whole style of Pendulums still looks kinda messy in general, but I can see these have a strong core.

Kairos even has a searcher because of it's type. Khora is easy to recruit from the Deck by UFO Turtle, Howling Insect, etc, and killing it only fuels the future Pendulum Summon from the Extra Deck.

Curse you and your Fortune Scales, Sleepy! First that whole thing with Silent Magician five years ago, and now this! Will it ever end?! Nuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuu----

...

Thanks for pointing that little mistake out. Just fixed it.

And as for combos, that sounds awesome! But I have to admit, even though I get everything else, I still don't really understand how Pendulum Summons are supposed to work, so there's not much I can say about that xD

Anyway, thanks for the comment!!!

It's amazing that there's someone around here that still remembers my Silent Magician xD

Oh about how they work.

I'll assume you already know how Spell Effects/Monster effects are different and how the Scales work.

The Pendulum Summon is an action you can do once per turn if you have both Pendulum Zones occupied.

Pendulum Summon can Summon any monsters from your hand, and it's a mass-Summon mechanic.

Of course the Level restrictions matter, but I'm sure I don't have to explain that one either =D

So your 1-9 Scales for example, can bring out anything from Level 2 to Level 8 that you might want to put in play from your hand.

Pendulum Monsters (Not Pendulum Summoned monsters, which can be anything, but I mean the actual Pendulum Monsters that are these dual-colored cards) are either Spells or just plain and regular Effect Monsters. Other than when they are in the Pendulum Zones, they are just plain and regular Effect Monsters. Normal Summonable, etc.

Now, for what I think is a bit less natural and helps confuse people is this:

Pendulum Cards (these dual color ones) don't go from the field to the Graveyard.

Whenever you have one destroyed, Tributed, or used for a Synchro Summon, it doesn't go to the Graveyard.

Instead it is placed on top of the Extra Deck face-up (as opposed to the rest of your regular Extra Deck that's face-down and cannot be seen by your opponent).

NOTE: It only works "from field to the Graveyard", so you can prevent that action if you banish them, return them to the Deck, or send them to the Graveyard from outside the field (disard, mill, or by being detached from an Xyz Monster).

This is important because Pendulum Summon has another feature. One that early game is pretty much non-existent.

When you are performing your "Pendulum Summon" of the turn and decide you wanna mass-Summon, you don't just have to just use cards from your hand, but the Pendulums that have slowly been piling up on top of your Extra Deck can also be brought back. This means Pendulums won't really go away from your potential resources in any natural way.

Hope this helps in some way ^^"

Technically my Pendulum example card came before either of yours. :p
But that's besides the point - just wanted to say that you have more than one card in your topic and this is Single Cards. Therefore, this thread will be moved to Realistic Cards - Multiple Cards accordingly.

How could I ever forget? That's like, the one single card on YCM which got the most pages for some odd reason. The art was really cool~ Plus, I'm the one who made the Silent Magician Lv16, if you remember~

Anyway, thanks for the explanation. I'm still a bit confused, but I think I understand it a lot better now. I think I'm actually starting to like this thing. It's not something you can just splash around like Xyzes and Synchros. In terms of usage, they're like Rituals, but more practical.

Oh, and Zextra, thanks! I haven't used the Cardmaking section of YCM in a while, so...

I'm just spamming at this point, but just for memory's sake, found my old thread:

http://forum.yugiohcardmaker.net/topic/86675-silent-magician-lv12/

8 Pages shows the difference between the activity of 2009 compared to nowadays. Though I also had plenty of "9/10 cool" comments xD

2009..... god I've been here a while. Where are DeMeNTeD and Father Wolf at?.. *shot*

A-anyways.

Glad my explanation helped clear at least some of your doubts.

Okay, Liam, in future, don't necropost (post in a thread without replies for ages)

As for Pendulum Monsters, there are many ways to go about doing it. The way I use is TCGEdiot, an offline cardmaker, and then upload the pictures to imgur, and link them to here.
