I don't mean to be rude, but doesn't the council have some sort of security system (i.e. guards). Cause without that couldn't some crazy person, or somebody who's mad cause they're being forced to leave their home due to the reaping barrage into the government office and off the Council with a shank of some sorts. I mean without guards with combat training/weapons training they're pretty defenseless.

The Reapings have been around for a long while.

I'd say a hundred years or so?

And the vast majority of people actually believe in the Council and all, almost like a pseudo-god, so almost no one complains.

If someone does complain/fight back/etc, the stronger men of the townspeople "assist". Like the blacksmiths/etc.

So no official guards really.

Practically no one has any experience fighting (nowhere to get it from, teaching forbidden, etc etc), so just plain strength is more than enough usually. So if your character self-taught, it wouldn't be anything professional. Yes, their own style, but an experienced person would generally almost always win, due to actual training.

Damn, that's good.

I'm so happy you decided to stay in. ^^

Anyways, just a small thing.

Yes, pickpocketing could exist, but with almost everyone being at the same level of income, doing so would hurt the person you lifted the money from.

I'm fine with your app, just saying.

True, but seeing as the Council cycles Damien would have no problem stealing from those that are in or have been in the council, seeing as they sent people off to a Reaping. And there have got to be a few people that make more money than others, maybe not a little more, but enough to distinguish a lower and upper class. Besides, most of his theft goes to keeping his family healthy, which takes priority over all things.

Glad that I was able to think up a character, was afraid that this might become a long term slump, but it seems I was able to beat it quick enough :D

Whew...finally finished! That...and I didn't know Aix was running someone with Iaijutsu...^^;
moSr0to.jpg
"Please don't do anything rash...Or I'll end you personally!~"

Personal
Name: Izaya / Hanshou Futatsu
Age: 18
Gender: Male
Date of Birth: June 15th
Blood Type: A+
Hobby(s):

 • Going by the river-side to practice his Iadio Kata
 • Listening to stories about the olden days of world
 • Listening to the old music that people play around the streets of Isahron
183106ac4614155c81cec6087c3f6614.jpg

Izaya stands tall at 5'9" and weighs 189 lbs, with medium short light blond hair and steel turquoise eyes. He typically wears a short sleeved white shirt underneath a very faded black vest, matching a pair of faded black pants, which also match a pair of faded black gloves with the finger portions of them cut from the thumb to the middle finger on both pairs. His shoes are a pair of dusty old black shoes, worn very much within a few months to say the least.

His overall appearance looks a bit dusty and ragged, his clothes not to the point of massive holes in them, but a few tears in the fabric here and there, nothing too drastic.

Izaya is the sort of young man that is always ready to lend a helpful hand to those who truly need it. With him being shy in his younger years, he is still quite hesitant on making new friends, as they would think he is too weird (on the count that he has a second personality within him). However, despite that small fact, most people are almost drawn to him by his kind and gentle nature...which is sometimes a good thing for him. In battle, Izaya prefers to injure his opponent enough to get them to stop, so its not to kill them, unlike his "darker" side.

Hanshou, on the other end of the spectrum, has the anguish and strife that Izaya has taken on over the years as he's ignored people in his life. Because of this, Hanshou is much more aggressive and always itching to sate his thirst for a true challenge. However, with him being condemned to live within Izaya's mind, he has a tendency not to lash out and attack Izaya's friends or allies, unless they push him to the edge to do so. In battle, Hanshou is ruthless, and unlike his "goody-goody" side...he does not mind seeing any blood when he fights.

The current generation of the Futatsu family had been expecting a child for quite a while now, and when they heard that it would be soon, they were ecstatic about the events that would unfold for their child. However, their child never came forth...as they had an unexpected miscarriage. The parents grieved over the loss of their new son...naming him Hanshou...Half-Dead...

A year later, the Futatsu couple were given news that they were once again going to have a child. This time, the child was born and they named him Izaya...He who watches the crowd...however, their child Izaya would be cursed with something that no child would ever want to have.

The years passed, and young Izaya enjoyed his starting years in Isahron. To him, they were the best times of his life...until that fateful day. It wasn't strange for Izaya to be picked on, mainly because of his shyness, and with them doing it each day, he began to ignore it. However this day he just couldn't...the group of Isahron kids began to harass him and tease him all they could. Izaya began to close his eyes and cover his ears as he knelt down, trying to ignore them. That is when it happened...something within the boy's mind became unlocked and allowed to roam free. Silence fell between the group of kids and the Futatsu boy. He slowly stood up and without warning began to harass the kids back, even scaring them to death...causing them to run away in tears. When Izaya's parents confronted him about this, he was confused...as if not having any recollection of the current event.

They kept badgering him and pressing the subject...until finally, they met up with the second personality Izaya held within him. When they began to talk the dual personality, they were shocked to hear the revelation that this personality was...it indeed was their miscarried son: Hanshou. A twist of fate caused the miscarried child's mind to find its way into his younger brother's...allowing him to remain. Not only this...Hanshou felt the pain and strife that was dealt to Izaya, causing him to be outrageously aggressive, unlike Izaya.

Knowing this now, Izaya and his parents began to find ways to beat the aggressive side, by keeping Izaya calm at all times. Izaya began to take himself quite walks to get away from the problems within the city, as he sometimes walked beside the river on the other side of the city. It was there he found something peculiar hidden deep within the earth off on a small island-like piece of land in this lake: a katana...a sword, of which he never saw before in his teachings. He hid it once again, as he returned home and began to grab some loose cloths as he returned to clean the blade and its odd sheath. It was here that Izaya chose to learn something about the art of sword handling...so whenever he returned to that edge of the city and its river, he practiced in secret on that small island-like piece of land in the lake. He trained to understand the style known as Iaijustu, an interesting style he heard about from myths and legends that he overheard in secret in the back parts of the old taverns...and it was here...that he found his peace...his nirvana.

However, Izaya's nirvana would soon end on that specific day. On the day before the famous Reaping, Izaya was attacked by a thief, wanting all his belongings. Not wanting any confrontation (nor the fact that he did not have his new weapon with him), Izaya tried to run away, only to have the thief pursue and pinning up against a building. With this, he was attacked again...but this time...Hanshou took charge and fought back. He struck back at the thief, only to have a local blacksmith break the fight up. From this, the thief spun a web of lies, saying that Izaya/Hanshou struck at him and tried to rob him. The blacksmith took Izaya by the arm and presented him to the Council. Hearing the story...instead of just sending him to be punished...they nominated him to be part of the Reaping.
Combat
Weapon Type: Longsword/Katana/Gun (Magic Only)
Narukami Kiba (also known as Thunder Fang)

A single-edged blade that rests within a peculiarly shaped sheath/scabbard. The sheath/scabbard seems to have been fitted with strange gun-esque features that acts as a release of the holder's magic, as well as a quick way to unsheath the blade itself. The weapon seemed to be crafted by a great blacksmith and seems to be a great weapon for someone like Izaya. The weapon having dual features: normal blade and gun for shooting magic. It would be set in the red sheath/scabbard on Izaya's right.

*Currently wrapped up in cloth on Izaya's back, posing as tent equipment

Izaya uses (more in the sense of, still a novice) the fighting style known as Iaido Kata, which is the sword style of smooth, controlled movements of drawing the sword from its scabbard, striking or cutting an opponent, and then replacing the sword in the scabbard but with a twist of using a firearm during the steps within a style, in this case, the gun that shoots magic. Izaya is quite skilled with the blade, however most of his reaction time with this fighting style is not all that great. The speedy, smooth and fluid strikes for this style is the part that Izaya hasn't quite gotten down.

However, where Izaya has failed in this aspect, Hanshou has not. Rather than just being good with his Iaido to an extent, Hanshou basically throws caution to the wind, and begins to fight with the blade one handed, allowing him to strike his opponents down in a quick fashion than his "weaker" side could ever.

Weaknesses

1.) Izaya/Hanshou don't exactly have the physical strength or brute force to charge into battle against those who are even more battle savvy.

2.) Still trying to master the Iaijutsu/Iaido Kata.

3.) Lack of any prior fighting experience.

4.) His skills with this are obviously rough and flawed.

Strengths

1.) Possessing Narukami Kiba, which specializes in shooting magic.

Iaido Kata - A special style that combines the basic Iaijustu principles of drawing the sword and striking in a fluid motion with the abilities of a firearm to use as a dual weapon in combat.

High Voltage - Using either Narukami Kiba or its sheath, this allows Izaya to send a discharge into his weapon, releasing a short electric shock in the form of sword slashes or gun-blasts. At this current level, being about 20 volts, can't exactly harm the opponent too much, but it'll stun them long enough to strike. However, if done the right way, at 20 volts, the attack may do more harm if given the right conditions. Using this move causes Izaya to use up his own built up electric energy that his body has gathered. If pushed past five uses, Izaya may cause a temporary paralysis.

Thunder Break - Narukami Kiba remains in its sheath, as Izaya begins to charge up his own electric energy, beginning to slowly pour it into the blade. Upon the right moment, Izaya releases the blade quickly from its sheath, as its shot out from the sheath for the swift strike. Once it is released, Izaya unleashes the blade covered in a electric current on his opponent, sending a slash filled with 60 volts to his opponent. However, charging the strike up should only be done at 8 seconds, any further and after the release, will cause Izaya to enter a blackout state or lose consciousness

An example of how the attack will end up looking (Minus the petals and the quick transitions to red backgrounds)

 • Izaya's name is a variant of the Hebrew name "Isaiah" and it means "He who watches the crowd". His other side, Hanshou, his name means "Half Dead". Their surname "Futatsu" means "Two".
 • Izaya/Hanshou's fighting style is the same used by Vergil in the "Devil May Cry" series.
 • The weapon used, "Narukami Kiba", is based upon the weapon used by Adam' "Wilt and Blush" from RWBY.

@Shadow: Where would you have read studies of the art of battle (Iaido)?

Also, the Reaping isn't a way to punish criminals (directly).

While yes, criminals would usually find themselves into the Reaping, any connection would be denied. (same for Madeline)

@Admiral: She seems good. ^^

Sonic, wrong character dude XD

Anyway, well Izaya would probably have been reading or hearing about them in old studies from the past or hear them in stories of those who once used them. Otherwise, there would be no other way. And if the above answer isn't acceptable, I'll use the idea of him trying to develop his own style, which becomes a sort of hybrid Iaido Kata.

Whichever sounds better for you is good with me!

And for the Reaping thing, understandable, but then again...at least that's what Izaya had originally thought.

Well stories might mention it and stuff, but it wouldn't have anything specific, more like how legends and myths would describe stuff, you know?

Like The warrior, with just one slash as he unsheathed his sword, dispatched his enemy.

Stuff like that, but generally besides something like that, it wouldn't be any more specific.

Also, finding stories with mentions of violence in them would still be somewhat hard to find.

Understandable.

Would you prefer them hearing them in legends and myths or him developing his own style which turns to be a sort of new Iaido Kata?

If it were like legends/myths, it would be like Brom from Eragon, it would have to be in secret.

Either option, it wouldn't be anything professional.

He might have the general ideas, but it would be rough and still obviously flawed.
