Nathanael D. Striker
Rules 1. All Leaderboard and Tournament Rules Apply 2. First to 3 votes or most by 11:59 pm Pacific Time on March 29th wins. 3. Votes must have a valid reason. 4. Winner gets 1 Rep from loser. 5. I have the right to add rules. Card Requirement Create a card that will revitalize Anti-Meta. Card A Neither players can, banish, shuffle into the Deck or add to their hand, cards from either Graveyard. Once per turn: You can target 1 Level 4 or lower monster in your Graveyard; Special Summon that target, then change this card from face-up Attack Position to face-up Defense Position. While that monster is face-up on the field, you cannot Special Summon monsters from the Extra Deck. You cannot Special Summon other monsters during the turn you activate this effect. Card B Shuffle 3 of your banished DARK monsters into the deck; Draw 2 cards. You can only activate 1 "Returning Nightmare" per turn. During either player's turn, except the turn this card was sent to the Graveyard: You can banish this card from the Graveyard; During this turn, negate the effects of cards that activate in their owner's hand. I Hate Snatch Steal
Here goes then... (Please note, the only 'meta' decks I've faced latley are bujns and fire fists) Card A punishes bujins and BFF spirit plays with its first effect. Also it can revive other stun cards such as raioh and koaki meru negators. The extra deck restriction seems to fit anti meta better then card B. I'm glad its there, otherwise this would be a staple lol. Card B, I'm not sure what anti-meta deck this is for, since it only seems to stop crane and doesn't touch fire fists. It seems like it could be used in any DARK heavy deck, of which there have been many meta varietes in the past, potentially making it meta as well. Thus it feels like it strays from the requirement a bit. Thus my vote is card A

Sleepy
Just as said above, card A currently works as anti Bujin, though to be fair, it works against any Graveyard-controlling deck, and the fact it's stats are so low and it's revival effect so passive really does force it into anti-meta builds. The most it could probably be used on is Monarchs otherwise. It's also great that it can be searched via Lonefire and Summoner Monk and can get Honest protection. It might be a little dangerous that it can revive another copy of itself to contribute to your opponent being unable to take her down so easily, but then again, it doesn't stop any in-field plays so it's fine. Card B is restricted to DARK Decks that banish in it's first effect. It's more of a tech than an anti-meta option over there. The second effect seems to be directed at hand trap monsters. It stops the parts of Bujin that the first card doesn't. Other than that it's an anti Maxx C and anti Veiler tool, but since those can be used as anti-meta as well, it might contrast itself a little bit regarding it's purpose. The use against Veiler is welcomed, the one against Maxx C is debatable. I'd say Card A is more effective in general for what the goal is. Card B is not bad though. My vote goes A. Vector Nightmare
Here goes then... (Please note, the only 'meta' decks I've faced latley are bujns and fire fists) Card A punishes bujins and BFF spirit plays with its first effect. Thus my vote is card A "Meta" doesn't refer to specific decks. It refers to a relatively broad category of playstyle that is considered popular and powerful. The competitive decks that follow this playstyle are considered "meta decks". "Anti-meta" is designed to counter and shut down the "meta" playstyle, and by extension overcome the meta decks (which are, by default, popular) not (entirely) by the deck's own power, but by its tendency to work well against their strategy. There's a different between a "competitive" or "high-tier" deck and a "meta" deck. For example, even though Bujins are considered a meta deck because of their tutoring and Graveyard usage, they also embody anti-meta elements when they use Kaiser Colosseum and/or Black Garden to stop the opponent from swarming the field. With that out of the way; card A fits the contest requirements better, but it's overpowered. You can keep it on the field with Safe Zone (summon it in ATK, Safe Zone it then switch it to DEF with its own effect so you don't even take damage), then use it every turn to revive Sacred Crane for a +1, then Tribute it for a Monarch (Return making the whole play even more ridiculous). Basically it's just too abusable IMO. Card B doesn't exactly meet the requirement. Yes, the second effect is an ok counter to many meta plays (not as much as card A's first effect though). But its main effect works only in a Dark centered deck, and is pretty situational. It's clearly meant to be used withn the DD cards, but I just don't think it's what DDs want right now - it's a slow +1 that can make a game push, which is good for sure, but not anti-meta enough, and certainly not enough to revitalize the anti-meta to any significant extent. I'd probably try to use it in some weird Verz variant, but no. Still I can't exactly overlook the game-breaking potential of card A, so I'm gonna have to go with card B, even though I find neither of these cards quite satisfactory. goddamnit names are a pain
I'm going to vote for A simply because it fills the requirement out best- I can't see a clear "Anti Meta" coming from Card B. Card A defines Anti meta and while having an amazing effect has a nice drawback that in my opinion defeats most "broke" things. I feel like it should say the SS monster cannot activate its effect that turn. Vote for A.
