1st World Societal Interactions and You

Do you think that the way that people interact and appreciate with each other in a place with omnipresent law and order and defined education and career paths is good for people?

How do you feel about the way society moves in your area and do you feel that it is natural or net beneficial to people?

Society is based on power craze and exploitation and doesn't benefit the wider population. Certain groups of people do good in the world, but the overall picture is negative and depressing. Large corporations deplete natural resources at the expense of the environment in the interest of profit. Governments only work these days to please themselves and their personal friends. Corruption and lying are in abundance. There is yet to be a person or group willing and able to stand up to all these issues. The solutions exist, but they are not implemented because they are not in the interest of short-term financial gain.

I think education should be more hands-on and less lecturing, research should consist more of personal theory and less of referenced logic, and careers should be based more on ability and less on experience. I feel like society would be less ignorant and naive if it were like this.

In terms of things going around where I live, I probably don't care.

Lately, some students at college are protesting the nomination of a retired US Pacific commander to head the whole system, saying he might "militarize" the education system. While I don't want that to happen, I'm not going over and joining their protests. In essence, just make sure they keep the darn system in one piece (considering all of the scandals and lawsuits the administration is facing right now). For other matters, I don't say anything because I think the student government is meh at its best and awful otherwise; much like the people responsible for running university, they have their own problems, such as one of the VP candidates was coercing votes or something.

(I'll go ahead and stop poking needles at my college...)

Answering first question, it is nice to live in a society that has set rules so things don't spiral into chaos. However I agree that the education standards are high for society at times, and that's not always for the best.
