Dante, Traveler of the Burning Abyss

LIGHT/Warrior/Xyz/Effect

Once per turn: You can detach 1 Xyz Material from this card and choose a number from 1 to 3, then, send that many cards from the top of your Deck to the Graveyard; until the end of this turn, this card gains 500 ATK for each card sent to the Graveyard this way. If this card attacks, it is changed to Defense Position at the end of the Battle Phase. If this card is sent to the Graveyard: You can target 1 “Burning Abyss” card in your Graveyard, except this card; add it to your hand.

If you control a monster that is not a “Burning Abyss” monster, destroy this card. You can only use 1 of the following effects of “Scarm, Malebranche of the Burning Abyss” per turn, and only once that turn.
● If you control no Spell/Trap Cards: You can Special Summon this card from your hand.
● During the End Phase, if this card was sent to the Graveyard this turn: You can add 1 Level 3 DARK Fiend-Type monster from your Deck to your hand, except “Scarm, Malebranche of the Burning Abyss”.

So Tour negates effects right? So it won't blow up on you right?

 

Since if so we've just been given the best Tour Guide target currently legal in the game. Arguably. 

 

And then we get Extra deck card Trooper? Who can be made with the now really searchable Tour Guide. 

 

Wow... these things seem really good. 

 

EDIT: OMG Astral Tricks now have Plieades access... Wow...

The article specifically references Virgil. I think we know who the non-Malebranche Burning Abyss card is.

...And we don't have to wait long for the rest to be revealed either.


So Tour negates effects right? So it won't blow up on you right?

That is correct, TGU prevents Scarm's destruction.

I'm sorry, but when I saw Dante, all I heard was:

"LIGHTSWORN, LIGHTSWORN, LIGHTSWORN!  RUMINA RUV U RONG TIME!"  *is shot by multiple snipers*

 

 

Same deal with Scarm and Tour Guide, but at least their Synergy works rather well, what with each one being able to search the other and all.

 

Still, I'd like to see more of this Archetype to see what its overall strategy/gimmick is.

Kuribandit being a target worries me because that card was already unhealthy and I doubt this will do anything but make it even moreso.'

 

And thus leviathan dragon lost almost 100% of its value. When it was already bad.

I was thinking about that earlier.

I mean, Guide can now grab Imp, which is pretty silly by itself, but now giving us a card that can outright search Guide, it ALMOST seems like they want to make 3-Material Rank 3s more relevant.
Or something like that.

I like the card but I doubt it'd do much for lightsworns, if you really want to mill 3 while not being a lightsworn monster you'd just run card trooper, albeit at the 600 atk difference. 

But yeah, pretty cool tour guide shenanigans, Konami love the level 3 dark fiend gimmick.
