People that takes credit for others' work

So a friend promises to sell me his netbook long ago if I fix it. So I fixed it. Two friends in class are claiming credit and now my friend doesn't know who to believe. So he is going to the instructor that watched me fix it. Just in case the b/itch gets it anyway I locked the netbook down completely. It had a few bad sectors which didn't take long to fix. Turns out it had a bootkit that overwrit the mbr and that wasn't hard to fix either.

So discuss credit thieves.

It happens a lot in politics as well; good example would be our state's current governor. The legislators/representatives are the ones who actually do the work; all he really does is sign said plans if they seem fine. For the most part, it's a matter of using false achievements to show yourself off. This is also applicable for a lot of people in the graphics industry; claim they're the ones who did the pieces (although their skill is nowhere close to that), but in actuality, a more seasoned artist did it.

I've gotten that a bit in academics as well. Working on a group project in 9th grade (a survey project about a new rail system for the state); I did most of the work (i.e. writing said surveys, getting people to do them, finalizing all of the documents and so on), but my partner (who only did about 1-2 surveys) claimed he did half of it in the presentation. Although, the catch is that if both names weren't on it, we'd fail the thing (even if I killed myself to do it). [This is sort of a reason why I dislike group projects at times]

I'd think those legislators would prefer that situation though, right? Because they hold the power either way and if things go south, your governor's the one getting the shaft.

Too true for group projects though. The last one I did was like that where I did most of the work, but in that case it was painfully obvious who had done what, so that was a rare little win for me.

I drew this comic to illustrate credit thievery.

It's really annoying when people claim credit for someone else's work.

This is beautiful.

Now, I've never really had any experience with it myself, as I've never really done anything worth taking credit for. Besides back in High School with "group" projects that I ended up doing the work for.

For one of our projects towards the beginning of the year (we had to do research on a randomly assigned tundra), I was the smartest guy in my group. Upon receiving the project, We all decided which person was doing what in said assignment( one guy does the research, other guy does illustrations, etc.). They had only one guy in the group who did absolutely nothing but slouch and eat, while me and my other group mate would work. I also took the responsibility of doing the poster and illustrations, which took 3 days to make. When our group presented, the teacher asked us who did the research and the illustrations. The guy stood up and said that he did everything, while we slouched around, which resulted in me and my other group mate in getting bad grades.
