My favourite gimmick of all time when combined with gravekeeper's oath and gishki's diviner!

Discuss!

PS: Could i please have a confirmed ruling of what happens to draws and top's of decks whilst this is active..... alot of people on DN have differing opinions so i would like to know whats the right ruling here......#

Also here's the link to the build im using, http://forum.yugiohcardmaker.net/topic/323005-convulsion-control/#entry6486813

It is a funny gimmick indeed. As for the top (or actually bottom) card of your Deck, most (if not all) of the official Yu-Gi-Oh! video games seem to completely invert your deck; so the current top card, is revealed.

This card has not much usage outside of the cards you listed. Though it would have been fun if more cards required you to 'guess' the top card of your Deck. The only real other application I see for this card, is help you figure out what cards your opponent is holding (and figue their Deck out early on). Unfortuantly your opponent also gets an idea of what you are holding in your hand, without the drawback of losing a Spell & Trap Card Zone.

Maybe future cards can help this card see some play.

I'm not going to use the Rulings Thread

What happens to draws and "to top of Deck" effects: They still work, but now both players can see the card that's going to be drawn/put on top of the Deck.

On Dueling Network this card's effect is represented by turning off Auto-Draw and banishing the top card of your Deck each turn to represent the top card of your Deck.

It's a cool card but it's unsearchable and impractical because of how easily it can be turned off.

That's what i do, its way easier and doesnt really change what would happen if u did it the alternative way.

Also its way easier since otherwise using the deck as the banish would really piss people off cus right now ALOT of decks are banishing cards at consistent rates.

How easily searchable it is can be debatable.... since the whole deck revolves around guessing the top of your deck, if i dont have convulsion on the field or in hand already then i will always say that the top card is convulsion (unless i know what the top card is obviously) and ive managed to fish it out a fair amount of times. Cards like PoD and hand Destruction also help with digging for it.

I'll post the build im using in the deck section and put a link on the OP.

Here's how the card functions.

Players literally take their Deck and flip it upside down. The card currently at the bottom of your Deck is now face-up at the top of your Deck. You draw cards from your (exposed) top of Deck. Cards that affect the "top of the Deck" are placed faceup on top of your Deck. Cards placed at the bottom of the Deck are placed faceup at the bottom of the physical Deck.

DN cannot handle this, as there is no way to literally turn your Deck upside down. The closest to a simulation is banishing the top card of your Deck faceup and adding it to hand when drawing. When Convulsion leaves, the banished card goes to the bottom of the Deck.

This is still problematic, but it's the closest emulation method.

Really, this card is fascinating and interesting, but also really weird.

Except that's not making the physical bottom card the physical top, now is it?

For all intents and purposes, it works. If there were certain effects that moves cards to the bottom or top before Convulsion was activated (and the Deck wasn't shuffled), then you just move those. You just want to play the card just to annoy people.

DN's main "fix" for this is shuffle then banish top card, fixing top-decked and bottom-decked cards as needed.

Random deck is still random as they say.

Some guy made you banish every card on DN to flip it and basically you just quit because you didn't want to keep doing it.  He was a genius

You can actually call an admin on this believe it or not, as doing this actually makes the entire deck view-able which is illegal.

It's worth noting that Archfiend's Oath and Gishki Diviner together form a pseudo Convulsion draw effect (guess with diviner, if wrong goes back to top of deck, then guess whatever you just picked up with Oath), so drawing Convulsion of Nature is more efficient but not the only way you can draw into extra cards.

Also worth correcting you by saying the card is Archfiend's Oath, not Gravekeeper's Oath, and I'm not saying that to be pedantic, but rather because you can even tech Archfiend Heiress into convulsion decks if you want to, based on this card having archfiend in its name and based on tour guide fitting into the deck relatively well.

Or tech "Falling Down", which should be lots of fun.

An issue I have with Convulsion of Nature is that by the way it makes cards revolve around it to be useful, it feels like it should have been a Field Spell Card, especially since it affects everyone with something that makes people adjust their game. I'd even dare say it has more of a right to be one than many actual Field Spells out there.
