[ANIME] Rank-Up-Magic Raptors/Revolution Force

Recommended Posts

You know, unless the playable targets are really, really good. I don't think RUMs have to be generic or specific to start being more worth playing, just... to be more worth it. Limited Barian's Force helped with having to devote less for the bigger Chaos Numbers like C69 or C104, but that was about it. Seventh One doesn't count.

I'd rather the option to be able to evolve 101 into Blaze Falcon than Rise Falcon. At least they'd have to throw three monsters at both of them to completely kill the play.

The funny thing about the RUMs' anime versions is that most of them could Rank Up any Xyz, regardless of Type, Attribute or archetype, but Konami restricted the Xyz they could Rank Up, because they didn't want them to be abusable.  If they had just made Barian's Force Rank Up any Xyz from the start, Argent Chaos Force and Limited Barian's Force would've largely been unnecessary outside of anime plot.

Quick Chaos, The Seventh One and Admiration of the Thousands get a pass in my view, because the first is a Quick-Play, and the latter two are just plain different in what they do.

That'd be ridiculous. There are WAY too many good Rank 5s.

I'm aware, but you have to be a tad ridiculous to be worth it competitively, unless they dial back the power level.  Burning Abyss' temporary use of Astral Force was a taste of what a RUM actually being used competitively is like, and that was only possible because of Astral Force's genericness.

Also, I'm pretty confident they won't actually make it like that.

Argent could recycle itself.

So that gets a pass too

Argent was cute for being able to recycle itself. If it wasn't for that, it'd be 100% unnecessary if Barian's Force was more unrestricted. Quick Chaos is a good example of what I'm talking about though. It's restricted, but has neat utility purposes. Raptor's Force is sort of close, but more defensive than Quick Chaos. The targets could both be better (which I'm sure Revolution Falcon will be), but so long as they're not heavily restricted on what you can use to make them, it's a step forward imo. ... Still doesn't mean it'll get played a whole lot competitively, but it's not like anything can make 3 Level 5 Winged Beasts. Let alone the two Rioto wants.

I can see why some of the freer ones in the anime got hit though. I wouldn't want anyone to be able to use Numeron Force with literally everything.

Both seem quite good for Blaze falcon, since everyone and their grandma will have a rank-4 out at some point. Makes him a lot more usable than trying to get level 5 winged beasts out, and also removes the need to have done force strix or rise falcon first. You can just use any rank 4, meaning that you can go for the much better utopia or dark rebellion, and just call out blaze if they get destroyed.

There are also a lot of good rank 5s, so I guess if you wanted to go for revolution falcon, this is useful too, but, honestly, who would even summon revolution falcon as it is right now?

One casual observation I have is the origins of Rank-Up-Magic.

In Zexal, all the Rank-Ups were produced somehow using Barian or Astral energy. There was Barian's Force, used solely by the Barians. Limited Barian's Force which was given to Yuma by a Barian. Numeron Force is the true form of Limited Barian's Force, and is in name associated with the Numeron Code. Astral Force is the Astral World's RUM. The Seventh One was created by Nasch using Barian's Chaos Draw. Quick Chaos is another Barian RUM used by Nasch. WRUM and Hyper Rank-Up Magic were used by Astral once he had all the Numbers.

Where did these come from? Why are they exclusive to Raid Raptors?

You say that now, then Revolution Falcon turns out to be the best Rank 5 in the game in its print.

Also I'd like to point out that if you play Utopia but they don't play an Xyzs, it's a pretty good excuse for Revolution Force to make Utopic Dragon.

Small correction, but Revolution Falcon is Rank 6.

If all the Numbers weren't with Astral, I'd be holding out hope that they'd show up again since RUM is back in town.

I suspect that RUMs are just a natural evolution of Xyz in general, but the Barians and Astrals concocted them first.  I don't think it really took much for someone to look at Xyz and go, "Hmm, I wonder if we can create a shortcut between all these Xyz with different Ranks."

It also helps that the Numeron Code changed the world in ways we might not even fully understand, and RUMs probably became common knowledge at some point, thanks to the Barian fiasco.

I'd like to have gone with the theory that Shun was an Astral being who made his own rank ups, but that wouldn't explain why his evolutions are mostly red instead of appearing in blue lights with brighter colors. He doesn't seem to make sense as a Barian either.

I'd dare say that just poofed from his iron will to survive and win in the war. Though, if that was the only case, wouldn't have made more sense to make them natural Xyz Changes like Utopia Ray or M7?

... Unless people just started mass producing Rank-Ups to the masses.

err, yeah, 6.

I keep thinking 5 because it's like Volcansaurus.

I don't think Shun is going to be associated with the Astral/Barian events, and likewise doubt Numbers were reappear. It would be a VERY bad move, to rehash too many previous elements from another series, especially since the writers for Arc-V are not the same writers from Zexal.

Shun's Rank-Ups are also Quick-Plays. They are used reactively to situations, rather than aggressively, like the other Rank-Up Magics have been. There also hasn't been any reference to "Chaos Xyz", which most Rank-Ups were associated with.

Tron and Faker probably perfected RUMs so that ordinary people could use them, and then sent them to the printing presses.

This honestly makes more sense, but less sense that they would make some for archetypes.

I don't think Numbers would appear either. But the war being about the last battle with the chaos leftover against the Astral World would've been an interesting element to expand on. Shun could've been one of the survivors and Arc-V could be Zexal's sequel for its Xyz arc. Plus, Sora's faces existing due to relation to Vector would explain a lot.

It's probably safer to just assume he made them to rise(HA) to the oppression.

I feel like rank-ups are just a thing xyz users can do now. Like how apparently all one needed to do in 5ds in order to accel synchro was clear their mind, I think humans just came up with the tech on their own. (either that, or they just plundered it off the barian world, which still existed at the end of zexal).

I am wondering if we'll see an upgraded form of fusion summoning though, since they have no accel/chaos equivalent.

But as much as I love the idea of Sora being vector's long lost son or something, I don't want zexal's actual story to influence arc-v. The villains being barians would totally detract from the importance of LDS and whatever leo akaba is up to. (not to mention zexal doesn't deserve a sequel, unless it's a spin off about vector that is)

I do think it's possible that we might see some Future-numbers though, since it's established humans can create them themselves. I'm kinda expecting dark rebellion's upgrade to be "future-number 2: Dark rebellion chaos dragon" or something.

Digvorzhak is the best rank 5 in the game. Hes just hard to summon.

Followed by Pleiades.

It's possible that even Yuto gets an RUM upgrade; we'll probably see it when he fights Sora. Same with a Fusion upgrade.

That being said, still need to see what the full confirmed effect of Revolution Falcon is (including materials), before deciding whether or not it's worth it. Then again, you'll probably Xyz Summon Blaze/Revolution via RUMs anyway; especially in former case. (Or conversely, just Astral into Revolution if you have to).

Konami will probably make more (but depends on whether or not more Main Deck comes as well).

That's true, that did sort of get totally forgotten about. was there ever any card besides red nova that could be summoned that way?
On a semi-related note, I also kind of want a symphonic warrior synchro that can be summoned with only tuners XD

Vylon Omega.
... And Gottoms, technically.

Seeing as they're revisiting Rank-Ups, and that they've brought up Accel Synchro with the structure deck... I think Arc-V is going to be a rehash of all of the evolution mechanics. Pendulum's in the mix I guess.

Hopefully they rehash LV as well; that mechanic desperately needs support.

so do unions

Unions I don't hold out much hope for, since we've gotten quite a few not-Unions in recent times, like the ZWs, Gwennie and Rhapsody.

Now that I think about it, Transmodify is like a more generic Level Up.  If we get LV monsters that are 1 Level apart, and aren't Nomis and can do decent things even if they aren't Summoned by their lower forms, you could use both Transmodify and Level Up! for the evolutions.

Assault Modes need an alternative Assault Mode Activate that doesn't Summon from just the Deck.
