This is so, so, so, horribly awful.

My heart goes out to all the families and relatives of the victims too.

This is legitimately disgusting.

People need to be able to grow up and deal with something as simple as what, skin color?
Apparently that's impossible for some people.

This is really depressing.

No really trying to generalize or anything, but whenever I read about something like this , 90% of the times it happened in the USA. Maybe it is because of the media focus?, idk.

While America definitely has an issue with gun violence, the media loves to focus on mass shooting incidents.

So really, it's probably both our gun violence problem and the media focus.

He still deserves worse.

An eye for an eye makes the whole world blind. Even if the shooter is so insanely messed in the head to do something like this, they are still human and thus deserve the basic rights we should give to all people. Condoning violence only makes you as bad as the people who commit it.

I'm on the fence about death penalty, and that's not really what I meant.

It's just like I feel going to prison for something like this is a bit too light, unless the prison there is actually really harsh or something.

IDK.

What I meant by, "he won't last long," is that he'll either get put in solitary, or get murdered.  The kid's likely gonna die.

He's not messed up in the head.  So let's drop that argument.  He's a racist.  There's nothing else to explain.

I get what you're saying, but I don't see the insanity label as a rationalization of is actions, as much as a demonization of his character.

Hitler was messed up in the head. Etc.

Insane or not, the kid is evil.

I heard the news and my heart goes out to the families and communities affected by this tragedy.

I won't drudge up arguments for gun control, but the government needs to crack down on gun violence. There have been so many shootings between this and Sandy Hook. Way, way too many.

One is too many, dammit.

Plus, it's becoming clearer to me that racism is still very much a problem. I don't know how the government can fix that since it's so institutionalized, but I'm hoping less and less racists will be raised each generation and will eventually die out.

Jon Stewart spoke about this, and I agree with his stance.

The thing I'm afraid of and saddened by the most is another incident like this will probably happen a year or two from now and nothing will have changed.

Gun violence is a huge problem in America but whenever one talks about the issue, they are immediately labeled as anti-gun.

There are many racist people who don't go and shoot up churches. There has to be something wrong with him if he can do that.

See, there's a difference, though.

Everyone is a bit "racist". Be it for laughs, serious teeth grinding, or whatever. However, that's the part that people lose their sheet over. Personal feelings that will never, ever fade, because it's natural to feel differently about those that are different. And even then, most people tend to further narrow it down to which parts they don't like of a given group, as opposed to a whole group.

This is true racism, more than anything. And you can't really classify "many racist people" when everyone has it in them, be it in the form of preconceived notions for jokes or otherwise. No one is truly free of some form of prejudice against other skin colors, actual racism is something different.
