Raidraptor – Devil Eagle

Dark Winged Beast / Xyz / Effect
RK3 1000/0
2 Level 3 “Raidraptor” monsters
You can detach 1 Xyz Material from this card, then target 1 face-up Special Summoned monster your opponent controls; inflict damage to your opponent equal to its original ATK. You can only use this effect of "Raidraptor - Devil Eagle" once per turn.

You know, Raidraptors wouldn't be so bad if they actually got decent stats on their Xyzs.

They primarily rely on their effects, and hating anything that is Special Summoned, when pretty much any monster you would Normal Summon could run over them.

Not to mention they do not usually go into rank 3s, so this card would take even more efforts to summon (assuming they get mediocre support to summon this), while having only 1600 ATK ... true it is quite terrible without anything else.

Look who came down with Ra Syndrome:

-Hard OPT.

-Not a quick effect anymore

-Must target opponent's monsters

-Only does original ATK

Damn Konami, it as already kinda lacklustre because of the Materials it needed, why did you nerf it that damn hard?

I gave up on them knowing how to balance cards long ago.

Special summon hate is part of their core flavour though, and it gives them something to be besides "Rank 4 Deck number 68753". Though I do agree their Xyz could stand to be better.

you guys really not expecting this to keep its quick effect right? even with hard opt something that can burn for 2000+ is not something to laugh at...

even with all the nerf its still a pseudo volcasaurus....with all the swarm effect RR would have no problem getting this at all

There goes konami ruining cards in my favorite archetype.

Wow... they could've just made it original attack and once per turn. The funk is the point of targeting considering we have cards to prevent that.

Goddamn it. Goddamn it

GODDAMN IT

The thing is, Volcasaurus is generic, isn't limited to Special Summoned monsters, and destroys its target. This thing requires what has hitherto been a Rank 4 deck to splash in Level 3s (of which there is currently 1 and it has 0 synergy with the deck) and make this just to do a little burn. That and as has been pointed out its 1000 ATK is paltry compared to Volcasaurus' 2500.

A Volcasaurus with 1000 ATK and 0 DEF that needs 2 RRs, that doesn't destroy the monster, only works on Special Summoned monsters (which, surprise surprise, your opponent may not have), and currently depends on Skull Eagle being amazing to even be worth considering in the deck.

opponent having special summoned monster isnt that unusual, and also not destroying the monster also

better in some case of floaters or destroy immune monster...

i thought singing lanius is level 3 ....so it depends on how good skull eagle is, it definitely has lower stat, but it being raidraptor mean it receive protection from readiness, which add more survavibility so it can inflict more burn

Enjoy the Qli matchup. Or the Majespectre one. Or the Monarch one post-Structure Deck.

And no, Singing is 4. Skull Eagle and Wild Vulture are the only non-LV4 ones.

*heavy sigh*

Why the f*** couldn't they just make this a 4? Raptors don't give a s*** for 3s.

Because Hikokubo wanted to show off Raid Force. I'm all for getting multiple Ranks if we get more LV3s, which is why people are speculating Wild Vulture will et a Level Change effet.
