Spell Reclamation

When you activate a Spell Card, discard 1 card from your hand. When the activated Spell Card is sent to the Graveyard, the card is returned to your hand.

Eh, section felt pretty slow recently.

Twas looking through random cards and came across this. With the power of Spells continually increasing, could this end up being viable at all? Activate to keep a field/continuous spell safe? Grab back nukes like 'geki/Dark Hole? Grab back useful combo cards like Brilliant Fusion/Soul Charge?

What do you peeps think?

It's a very finicky card.

Firstly, you have to activate this in response to your Spell being activated, and priority passes to your opponent automatically for first response. So if your opponent chains ANYTHING, this card cannot be activated. Then it costs a discard, fair enough.

But that's the problem. It's REALLY slow. It's a Trap, so you have to Set it and hope it doesn't die, then you have to activate a Spell that hopefully doesn't get chained to by anything else, then you have to discard a card, and in exchange, you'll get the Spell back when it goes to the Graveyard.

Waiting an entire turn for this to even be usable sucks and makes this an incredibly dead draw. I suppose the discard cost is gonna hurt quite a bit for any non-Soul Charge Spell you want to recover in most Decks. You're also only using this for a very small amount of Spells, all of which are unsearchable, while this itself is unsearchable. Plus, there's the whole "plz no chain" thing that Evilfusion mentioned.

It's the equivalent of "technically I can equip my Sangan with Buster Rancher, so let's run Buster Rancher!" or whatever that's called. Or running Poly for BEUD in a Deck with 3 BEWD way back when and you're giving no effort to even search your BEWD.

Tbh, I noted most of this card's flaws as I was making the topic, but I completely missed the chaining issue. I guess it would've been better with the old priority stuff.

What I noted was that this particular niche seems to be decently covered, from MoF and the spell-searching Monarch on the monster end, to Magical Stone Excavation (and this, of course) on the Spell/Trap side. In comparison to those, this card seems a bit limited (though not completely useless).
