Nikitama + Aratama

Nikitama:
Cannot be Special Summoned. During the End Phase of the turn this card is Normal Summoned or flipped face-up: Return it to the hand. During the turn this card was Normal Summoned or flipped face-up, you can Normal Summon 1 Spirit monster in addition to your Normal Summon/Set. (You can only gain this effect once per turn.) When this card is sent to the Graveyard: Draw 1 card. You must control a Spirit monster to activate and to resolve this effect.

 

 

Aratama:
Cannot be Special Summoned. During the End Phase of the turn this card is Normal Summoned or flipped face-up: Return it to the hand. When this card is Normal Summoned or flipped face-up: You can add 1 Spirit monster from your Deck to your hand, except "Aratama".

 

 

 
Part of me wants to monologue on how these were "cool" for being overly dependent on Laval Chain as like the only real move they have, since they could grab BLS- That's ancient history/who cares anymore.
Nikitama lets you Summon more sheet and acts as a Draw Engine(if you control a Spirit), while Aratama lets you search your whole Deck. Would be cute if Aratama could search itself, since then it gives you a reason to play that gamebreaking Double Summon. Yea, these two just feel like wasted Potential, but this is mainly due to the fact that, like another 9001 Archetypes in Yugioh, Spirits were always meant to suck.

I mean both of these are playmakers because it's a walking Double Summon/Upstart Goblin and the other is a fuckin' Stratos, and they have amazing synergy with eachother. But by the end of the day, they are still Spirits, and that is a massive drawback in and of itself. Or whatever.

I used these in a HAT variant that used Spirits instead of Artifacts. With a Kagetokage in hand and these two, they actually work a fair bit. Niki + Kage, NS Ara, search another Niki, make King of the Feral Imps with Niki and Kage, ditch Niki to search Kage, draw 1. Then Ara returns toy our hand in the end phase so you can do it again next turn. It was a cute combo, nothing special now, but a year or two ago it was cute.

I honestly really like these kinds of cards, because they let you make the cards that would be their full potential.

But this is TCG/OCG, so that's not important.

 

They were really wasted potential, to be honest, especially since they're not searchable by too many means. On the bright side, they do increase your hand size a bit.

If only Nikitama didn't have the requirement for the draw. That would make it much more useful.

I almost feel like grabbing BLS would be a suboptimal play, since he's honestly not as OP as he used to be. 

 

Although, if Koomy didn't waste their potential like they so blatantly did and made a Spirit deck actually useable, they would probably be 3-of staples or something. I guess there's gotta be an underdog.
