Raidraptor - Booster Strix

When a "Raidraptor" monster you control is targeted for an attack: You can banish this card from your hand; destroy the attacking monster.

Because 9/10 Ruri players seem to run this, when I run into them.

And yes, this is a good card... but not for the reasons you think.

Booster Strix is a good card because it creates a mindset of fear among people facing Ruris. You cannot attack into a Raidraptor without acknowledging that this exists, because, on the off chance that they tech it, you can get dunked on.

But this does NOT mean that you run it. It means that you force your opponent into suboptimal plays because of the fear of this card's existence. Not like it's even amazing draw.

And even if you DO choose to tech it... You don't search it, despite the fact that it's a poor draw. Yes, it makes them go into plays to REMOVE a Ruri instead of attack it, but... Why not just build your advantage up, instead? They should be doing their damndest to remove them instead of attacking them, anyway, so you're just giving them a "here, your fears are vindicated, now trample me all the same."

And it's too passive, at that. It should have been able to do it on attack/when attacked, not just when attacked. Possibly should have done something else, as well, but at least the former. Sure, you can use it for Xyz, but why do this card over better fodder, when possible?

So yeah...

Good because: Mindgames.

Bad because: Mediocre draw, bad stats, easily telegraphed for low mindgame value when actually run.

I think that because it is pretty much only one use, it's not really that good (although it certainly does make your opponent think twice). I agree that the stats aren't anything to be proud of either, but I do give it points for being a non-target destruction effect on the attacking monster.

Raidraptors don't exactly have the reputation for playing aggressive if your opponent has an empty field. They kind of rely on your opponent to have monsters that they can Siphon ATK from/bomb for damage.

So yeah,I agree with your reasons completely. It's either you side deck it, or run 1 copy at most.

Yeah i remember I had said something about the mindgames back in an earlier thread.

In fact, I think this card is more effective in the mind aspect against GOOD players than bad ones because the bad ones don't really give a damn about what could happen.

0-1 at most. Side if you REALLY need it.

Also i know this has been said already but.

NEVER SEARCH IT.

They have a way to get her off board? I wasn't aware.

You're usually not attacking over a 2600 funk with a good ass either. The fact remains amat can generate the necessary field presence needed for booster to be alive, so the fact that a secondary non-rr atk target exists isn't as damaging as it may initially seem

Honestly I just brought that up so somebody else wouldn't do so as a point against me.

I actually feel like this card's existence kinda messes up RR a bit. For Death Double and Soul Shave, you need to get Force Strix in the grave, but if your opponent is reluctant to attack and would rather shuffle your Strix back via Castel, it makes that goal much more difficult.

why aren't you running dire wolf?

And why don't you have enough resources T2/multiple Strix T1 to do so with?

Main 3 of this card for casual duels, then take them all out (secretly without telling anyone) when it matters.

Metagaming m8

Side 2 of these, put 1 in your main deck, accidentally drop it before the match, let opponent pick it up and take a hard look at it before giving it to you so you can place 2 in Side Deck.
