Moonlight vs Zeta

Moonlight effect:

If this card is Special Summoned, or a Level 5 or higher monster(s) is Special Summoned to your opponent's side of the field: Target 1 Special Summoned monster your opponent controls; return that target to the hand. You can only use this effect of "Black Rose Moonlight Dragon" once per turn.

Zeta effect:

Once per turn, during either player's turn: You can target 1 Special Summoned monster your opponent controls in face-up Attack Position; banish both that monster and this card from the field, but return them in your next Standby Phase. If this card is in your Graveyard: You can target 1 other "PSY-Frame" card in your Graveyard; return this card to the Extra Deck, and if you do, add that target to your hand.

So these two cards are rather similar. They are both level 7 non-WIND Synchros (relevant for Speedroids) that have an effect to temporally remove an opponent's monster. These cards are so similar infact, that I don't think I should run both. I have switched between them, but whenever I use one, I curse its downsides compared to the other and wish I was running the other card instead. But which card do you think is better? Discuss.

There are definitely upsides and downsides to both, Moonlight makes them able to re-Summon it, making it a temporary fix, but it does stay on the field, Zeta can take it out for as long as it can keep itself banished, and makes re-Summoning it a bit harder. Zeta is able to be more protective as well, as it's a Quick Effect.

Moonlight is better in a reactive use than a proactive use since it is an actual out to the said card and gets rid of any problem cards without losing out on a 2400 body.

Zeta is better as a proactive use as it can hit more problem cards during the opponent's turn as well as have more versatility since it isn't mandatory.

well... if you happen to run 2 zeta, you can use the effect of one to recycle both, so there's that. past that though, IMO, moonlight has the better "on summon" effect for a push, while zeta has the better effect if you want to stop your opponent from pushing. so i'd say it depends on the deck you run and how you want your extra deck to balance it. if your deck can already rack up damage fast, probably go for zeta, if it's already more defensive, go for moonlight.

^^

Dolphin here knows the joys of being faced with Winda-Moonlight ;)

Moonlight sole problem is it's has too many conditions all lump'd together

Manditory& Targets& only Lv5& only 1

Vs PK Fire Zeta would likely serve you better, vs Blue Eyes Moonlight would serve you better

VS Kozmo, might as well start crying

While both have their merits, I'm going to have to say I prefer PSY-Framelord Zeta. It's ATK is 2500, which may be put aside if Moonlight's effect was better. However, Zeta is capable of banishing as opposed to returning, and you have a choice to activate it. Plus, it's not as conditional. And whether or not this seems like much, at laso doesn't have a strict "Once per turn" clause.

To play Devil's advocate, Zeta is more conditional, because you only really use Moonlight for the on Summon effect. Being able to hit things in defence position is useful.

Anyway, in my deck, I'm running Crystal Wing, which makes Moonlight a bit more useful because it's a good ladder synchro.

I said I prefer; not which is better. I have used Moonlight before, but it's return effect is usually pretty lackluster (at least when I used it).
