Snatch Steal
i know i post dramatic general topics a lot but this really did me in http://yourblackworld.net/2016/06/07/wrongfully-convicted-black-man-who-spent-5-years-in-prison-for-rape-comments-on-white-students-lenient-sentence/ i am freaking out over this. tl;dr, the black guy went to jail for 5 years on FALSE rape allegations, while the white guy, who by jury consensus definitely assaulted a woman on campus, but is a privileged, sporty white male, only has to stay in there for 6 months, due to what another white male judge said. I just ლ(ಠ益ಠლ) They're petitioning the guy too, which is pretty cool. Even so, this sheet gets me so riled up. There's a lot for me to say, but the article and Banks really say it for me. Christian Exodia
Firstly, the fact that pot has a higher sentence time than rape, in a lot of cases, is alarming to me. Secondly, rape is rape. The sentencing for it should be equal regardless who the person is. Rich, poor, black, white, anything in between... it should not matter. No money or influence should be able to get one out of it. It's that simple.

I actually want to hear his logic behind the lenient sentence, as bad as it probably is. EDIT: http://www.cnn.com/2016/06/06/us/sexual-assault-brock-turner-stanford/index.html Santa Clara County Superior Court Judge Aaron Persky said on Thursday that Turner's age and lack of criminal history made him feel that imposing a six-month jail sentence with probation was appropriate. Turner also has to register as a sex offender. "A prison sentence would have a severe impact on him," Persky said. "I think he will not be a danger to others." I can sort of get this, but, 6 months is still way too lenient for a rape conviction.
Flash Flyer - Sakura
Like Exodia mentioned, it matters not whether you're white, black, Asian or whatever nationality, or even economic/social status; rape is still rape. I know two people who did similar things to what this kid did and they got 10 year prison terms (one's white and the other one is Japanese; both of them came from good families and knew better [they had no criminal records prior to their crimes]) I'd agree that 6 months in prison is a slap on the wrist in this case, and Turner deserves way more prison time for raping the girl, even if he didn't have a criminal record (which he does now) or is a 20-year old. Yes, he got expelled and now is a registered sex offender, but honestly he deserves at least 5-10 years behind bars for that. ----As for the other case about Banks, if there was no adequate proof on his account, then he shouldn't have gone to prison. Or really, his accuser should face charges for lying to the police about what happened.

Mutant Monster RAEG-HAPYP
Come to think of it, isn't it really hard for registered sex offenders to get any sort of job or whatever? If so, that alone can screw him, despite the hideously lenient sentence.
Flash Flyer - Sakura
Come to think of it, isn't it really hard for registered sex offenders to get any sort of job or whatever? If so, that alone can screw him, despite the hideously lenient sentence. Depends on the state, but his sex offender status will cut him out of certain jobs (and in his case, likely any chance of joining a professional swim team). I don't know how California processes job applicants who are sex offenders. I mentioned earlier that someone I know did get 10 years in prison for sexual acts and had to register as sex offenders. One of them was in the National Guard at the time of said incident; he can't go back to it. He got released already, but I've no clue if he even found a job at this time (maybe he did, but perhaps he didn't).
Dad
Brock the Gym Leader's sentence just got reduced to three months instead of 6. Power of money boys.
vla1ne
really though? the man took advantage of a situation to have sex with somebody who was completely unconscious. there's no justification, and whether he claims he learned his lesson or not shouldn't factor into the amount of time he's made to serve, if it does then how the hell do they justify murderers who get pt away for decades over accidents? Mutant Monster RAEG-HAPYP
He's now banned from U.S. Swimming: http://www.cnn.com/2016/06/10/us/sexual-assault-brock-turner-swimming/index.html Also, the petition to recall the judge has reached over 1 million signatures, apparently.
