Weather

Recommended Posts

Hawai'i is mostly summertime weather, as it does not snow here except for that one mountain on the Big Island. I wish it did snow at times on the other islands, but then we'd have to deal with shoveling the driveway and a lot of other things. Parts of this state get rain, but others are dry because the mountains block rain from coming around (kind of like the desert, but nowhere near as hot).

I generally like it when the weather is cool out, or really without high humidity (makes it hotter than it should be).

----

For reference, generally doesn't get hotter than maybe 90 degrees (32.2 C) and usually nothing lower than the mid-60s at night at its coldest (we have had some days where it was colder than usual at night). Daytime is usually 80s (not counting humidity) and night is mid/upper 60s, low 70s.

Oh right, and we have volcanic ash to worry about at times.

I live in Texas so for the most part it's hot and dry except for one brief stint in the early summer where we're all like "where the funk is all this rain coming from!?"

It's been awfully humid this summer too and we all know that when the idea of humidity was first presented Satan was like "woah calm down there, that's a bit much" so overall the weather's sucked around here. Humidity is evil incarnate when there's no precipitation to offset it, and it never rains here so yeah. I wouldn't mind if it rained here a little. Or more than a little. Whatever deals with the humidity.

I live in 'Murica, so all temperatures given are in Fahrenheit. If you need to convert to Celsius,

C = 5/9*(F - 32)

I live in plain old New Jersey. Standard subtropical climate. We have relatively equal amounts of Spring, Summer, Autumn, and Winter. The average temperature during the summer is 80 - 90 degrees, absolute max of 100, winter is 20 - 40 degrees, absolute min of 0 (roughly). There are periodic heavy rains during mid-spring into early summer. Summer is relatively wet with decently high humidity, and thunderstorms are common. Winter is dry with little precipitation, but we always get at least one decent snowstorm and a few flurries. We were hit by the biggest snowstorm in recent history this past winter, which dropped 2.5 feet of snow on us over the course of 1 weekend.

My favorite weather is oddly specific. Sunny with a temperature at which one would wear pants and a long sleeve shirt (no jacket) and it is slightly chilly in the shade, but feels nice when you step into direct sunlight. For me, I think this is around 55 degrees (no wind).

I like mist and fog, because technically they are clouds, and that's a cute thought.

I find light rain/drizzle enjoyable, too.

Most common weather here is sunny (or mostly sunny) and high heat, reaching the 40 Cs in summer; oh, it's also humid all year so you can imagine how awful it can get; sweat everywhere. IIRC winters have become warmer through the years and aren't as cold anymore in that you can get away without wearing winter clothes except from midnight to dawn; except for a few cold waves (3 per year or so, during the winter months) that can last about 1 week, but can get rather extreme, 1~4 Cs, if not below 0.

I like temperatures between 20 to 25 Celsius, as it's not so cold that you're tempted to take a nap, but not so hot that you feel like you're melting without even moving a muscle.

If it's approaching winter I really appreciate sunshine and clear skies. Keeps things appreciably warm and doesn't screw up my sense of time too much. Cloudy mornings make 8AM look like 6AM.

But regardless of time of year, sunshowers suuuuuuuck.

I like the cold winter breeze and windy days, even when I got a cold then.....

The winter between 20 and 25 degrees is nice, since it doesn't make you sweat and more relaxing on the mind......

Snowy days are best, since you can build a snowman, play with sleigh, and experience a memorable snowball fight......

Windy weather is also nice, since it is the time that kites fly in the air and the moment of inspiration

I love clouds and rain. It's nice to be inside while hearing the rain waltz on the rooftop.

I even like being inside during really stormy weather, like hurricanes. I mean, obviously, some of them are scary, but dark clouds, strong winds, and stinging rain are my kind of party.

Assuming I'm inside. Outside, not so fun.

Winter weather I really don't like. It is cold and wet, and snow ends up in slush.

Summer is generally to hot for me, then again I can't really cope with temperatures above 20oC.

Early spring/late autumn weather is nice, it isn't too hot or cold so I can sleep comfortably and generally feel comfortable without needing ice cream or permanently be wrapped in a blanket.

I do like thunderstorms though, staying up to look at one out of inability to sleep and it was interesting to watch, only shame is they only really happen in summer.
