Seal of Magic Searching

Spell

Continuous

If a spell card(s) is added to the hand(s), except by drawing or from the graveyard or field: banish that spell card(s). Those spell card(s) and their effects cannot be activated in response to this effect.

Rulings notes:

The type of card (monster/spell/trap) is only considered in the hand. eg a pendulum card returned from the pendulum zone to the hand is a monster card for this purpose.

This is mostly for fanfiction, I'm sure you can guess why edit: maybe I need to spell this out: in the anime it would prevent the use of action cards. However I thought maybe someone could have an idea on how to use it in OCG/TCG.

edit:

New lore, courtesy of Darj:

Any Spell/Trap Card added to the hand, except from the field or Graveyard, or by drawing it, is banished instead.

As for its uses, it is nice for getting rid of searched Spells, but it won't affect Trap nor monster searching so in that sense it is less restrictive than Mistake, and is not a Trap Card like Mistake either, so one may prefer the latter for more coverage. I suppose that leaves this card as a meta call or extra copies of Mistake against decks that heavily rely on Spell searching (e.g. the now neutered Nekroz and Spellbook/Prophecies), but I doubt its uses would go any further than that.

Regarding its purpose of disrupting action cards, it seems that Trap action cards exist as well, and you may want to cover them with this card's effect as well.

Dropping an alternate effect, also including Trap Cards:

Any Spell/Trap Card added to the hand, except from the field or Graveyard, or by drawing it, is banished instead.

With this version of the effect, the Spell/Traps won't reach the hand at all, also it is a continuous effect, and thus is it no longer needed to negate their effects in response to this effect.

You don't need to worry about this card covering up Action Trap Cards. Unlike Action Spell Cards, Action Trap Cards' effects are purely and exclusively detrimental to the one that grabs them. They are meant to make players hesitant of grabbing Action Cards in fear they might end up being Action Traps..

As for the card, it does what has to do to Action Spell Cards. Although it is a tad situational IRL, and since even in Action Duels, Action Spells are merely free pluses, you are also technically making a -1 by using actual advantage from your build on them, especially if your opponent doesn't normally search spells.

Well in any case, I guess Darj's suggestion on Traps could still broaden this card's uses when used in normal formats (non Action) despite what I said. It is a possibility.

Maybe you could once per turn draw 1 card when it happens instead, so you could do something like Exchange and give them a Spell, and that'd count because it came from another hand. Or, iirc there's a card from the Dark Side of Dimensions Movie Pack that searches out a monster by giving away a Spell, something along those lines is what I'd like to suggest so that it doesn't just broaden the restriction, and so that using it provides you with a benefit if you wanted to take a proactive approach in a build with this.

Just throwing around suggestions there though.
