The Nyx Avatar
LORE:You can pay 800 LP; Special Summon 1 of your banished Level 4 or lower Wyrm-Type monsters. You can only activate this effect of "Brimstone Wyvern" once per turn. If this card attacks: You can increase this card's ATK by 300 until the end of the Damage Step. Black D'Sceptyr
I'm TRYING-really I am-to see a self-banishing Wyrm that this Wyvern can easily summon in the current format. So far, Chiwen of the Yang Zings comes to mind. The rest would require you to banish them. Being essentially a 2k beater on your turn helps with this-feels like a better Mythic Shell Dragon. Don't get me worng-find that way to banish a monster (coughMagmaDragoncough) and you're golden. This has the feel, though, that my cards used to have in my 2009 run-of bein' ahead of its time. A Wyrm Deck that focuses around banishment will come soon and this will probably be a staple. As it is, its a card in search of a Archetype to make it good, instead of the other way around, which is...kinda how it usually goes in this forum. But see. That's something I admire. Plumbing wholly new ground without fail is a fancy of mine-you'd have no idea, but an Archetype of mine that I made-called the Devine-effectively predated the Kozmos by several years. Only made one member of the Archetype here-the Carat Monolith-but it still hearkens to that moment. And for that, I give this a 8.8/10, Nyx. Sleepy
The first part can just sayPay 800 LP:All Speed Spell 1 Monster Effects activating during your Main Phase, so it is redundant, especially when you already have the hard OPT clause at the end. LP (the abbreviation) has become a common thing in card texts as of recent years. It is legit. As for the card itself, I'm no expert in Wyrms at all, but this card is still a Level 4 DARK Tuner, which is already opening up doors for the card. Also, without knowing about how Wyrms play, this is a +1 Summon that has a ton of ways that it could work out. It is flexible and generic enough. Your Wyrm Summoned isn't even Level/ATK-capped so anything goes. Sounds pretty easy to tech in Snow White and put 3 Level 4s on the board. It can only get better over time. I'd even say it is a little too generic, being able to revive anything from one type and being a Tuner.
