DARK

✪✪ (Lv 2)

[Fairy/ Tuner/ Effect]

ATK/ 1200 DEF/ 0

Once per turn, if this card would be destroyed by battle, it is not destroyed. After damage calculation: Place 1 Grudge Counter on any opponent's monster that battles this card. If this card is sent from the field to the Graveyard: Send all monsters with Grudge Counters to the Graveyard.

I would say this is a better version of Dark Resonator effect-wise, but the two have different roles and support. But at the very least, you can get rid of something if the opponent attacks again or you use this to Synchro Summon, so that's cool (it bypasses destruction immunity and trigger effects).

Of course, I don't think you'll remove more than 1 monster in this format, but removal is still removal.

Wow, I like this card. I find it as a clever way of making the OPT protection from batttle destruction good, when normally it is underwhelming in this age where effect removal is at the order of the day. The Grudge Counter effect discourages the opponent from attacking this, making him/her resort to effect removal and thus spend resources. Or he/she can muscle through it and attack it twice in a turn, costing it 2 monsters.

Also, since it is non-destructive, non-targeting removal, you can use it "offensively" to remove a monster backed up by immunities by attacking it with this card (at the cost of taking some battle damage) and then Synchro Summoning with it and activate the removal effect. IMO a nice way to balance non-destructive, non-targeting removal on a Maindeck monster.

Not to mention that it has an underused typing of DARK/Fairy (it recently got attention with Darklords, but are still outnumbered by other typings), and I like when card makers go for less popular typings for their cards.

Yaya! Alliteration. Anywho:

It's an Allure of Darkness and Recurring Nightmare option, so that's a start.

Sure, that battle protection will only last so long, but that's the beauty of thw Counter effect. Your opponent would need a removal or negation effect to get over this card without receiving so much as one counter. So even if your opponent just chose to attack it twice, they're still leaving without at least one monster, while at the same time not setting off destruction-triggering effects. It's a cute Tuner with cute protection and removal to boot.
