[Written]Alternate Summoning Card

Basically the idea of Alternate Summoning Cards are that they are 2 of the 3 Extra Deck types at once and depending on how they are summoned they can gain certain effects where Radiant Star Dragon Kingdom Zero will act as an example of this (note that cards like this would appear similar to pendulums with how one have appears with the fusion boarder and the other Xyz).

Radiant Star Dragon Kingdom Zero

Rank 8 LIGHT

Dragon/Fusion/Xyz/Effect

2 Level 8 Fusion Monsters

(This card is also treated as a Level 8 Monster)

Must be Special Summoned by either Fusion or Xyz Summon and cannot be Special Summoned by other ways. This card is unaffected by your opponents monster effects. Depending on how this card was summoned, it gains the following effects.

* Fusion: During the Battle-Phase this card is unaffected by your opponents Spell and Trap Cards. At the start of the damage step, if this card battles an opponents Level or Rank 5 or higher monster: the monster this card battles ATK and DEF becomes 0 and its effects are negated.

* Xyz: Once per turn: you can detach up to 2 Xyz Material from this card; negate the effects of all face-up cards on your opponents side of the field, if you detach 2 Xyz Materials this way, you can target 1 face-up monster your opponent controls: its ATK and DEF become 0.

ATK/3000 DEF/2500

Looks like a fun concept. And Extra Deck Pendulums exist, so this idea shouldn't be that foreign.

You should add rulings stating the monster won't forget how it was Summoned even when it's temporarily banished, flipped face-down, or has its effects negated temporarily; otherwise it will become practically a vanilla once its status is restored. Unless, you intent for them to "forget" their effects, which of course would be weakness on these kind of monsters.

I feel the weakness of forgetting effects will work in a case of avoiding confusion between multiple copies if they were a mix of being summoned by their 2 different methods where they will become mostly vanilla outside of their general effects.

Ah, alright then.

Commenting more on the concept, I like how the dual card type allows them to find a place in more decks. It's just a way of making them more accessible.

Oh, also I'm assuming are they treated as both card types, which is relevant for card type (Fusion, Synchro, Xyz) support effects. If so, it will be funny to activate 2 of the effects of "Oracle of Zefra" by summoning 1 of these monsters.

Yeah they would be both types regardless of which method you summoned them with.

I want to think this is what Arc V's series have paved the way for in terms of what we might see next time.

Also, Armz did this a while ago. I can testify it'd be a neat idea. You have a card that is, say, Fusion/Synchro and can be Summoned in 2 convenient ways that offer tactical pros and cons to help you get around certain blocks.

Though on the other hand you'll be increasing the chances of being effectively hit by Dimensional Barrier xD

In the case of Xyz hybrids, yeah it'll need to always specify the existence of an original Level and an original Rank. I wonder how the stars would be printed.... Probably left/right orange/black each. Yugioh should play around with more concepts like this.

I'd do new Stars - make them be Center-Oriented and a new color, say Silver for Monsters that are two types and Gold for the rare cards that would be all three. The only time it would look the same as other Extra Deck cards is on 12-Star Monsters, hence the color change. If you try to do it from both sides at the same time for Xyz hybrids, you wouldn't be able to go higher than 6 without running out of room unless the Rank and Level were different.

The idea is good, I think I'm going to use it for my personal set. With this, maybe we can finally have some Extra Deck HERO cards that aren't just Fusions because it's easy enough to stop a pure HERO build right now with all the Fusion lockdowns - even Non-Fusion Area will usually trap them for a turn or two.
