Galaxy-Eyes Genesic Dragon

Rank 8 LIGHT

Dragon/Xyz/Effect

2 Level 8 LIGHT Monsters

Once per turn: you can detach 1 Xyz Material from this card; target 1 Monster your opponent controls, banish the targeted Monster until the End Phase that turn. This card gains the following effects depending on the monsters attached to this card as a Xyz Material.

* "Photon" monster: Once per turn, during your Main Phase: you can increase the ATK of all monsters you control with 2000 or less ATK by 2000 until the End Phase that turn, but all damage dealt to your opponent as a result of a direct attack is halved.

* "Cipher" monster: Once per turn, during your Main Phase: you can target up to 2 monster(s) your opponent controls; take control of the targeted monster(s) and their name is treated as "Galaxy-Eyes Genesic Dragon" until the End Phase this turn but damage dealt by the targeted monster(s) to your opponent becomes 0.

ATK/3000 DEF/2500

So Galaxy-Eyes Genesic Dragon is basically a mix between its Cipher and Photon counter parts where depending on if it has either a Photon or Cipher Monster as a material it can gain some powerful effects in addition to that it also has it own effect of banishing a Monster until the End Phase which acts as a spin on the original Galaxy-Eyes effect.

I had balanced the 2 effects by making the boost halve the damage if the monster attacks directly and have the monsters you take control of deal no damage at all.

In either Photon, Cipher or a hybrid of both this can be a very powerful card where if you have both a Photon and a Cipher attached to this not only can it steal Monsters but grant them a massive power boost as well.

I like it, cool effect setup. Banish effect is kinda weak though for today's day and age of abc

While you did talk about the card's uses in the game, you are a bit under the Advanced Card min. word requirement. So...you might want to be more specific on that (since you're comparing it to ABCs) or talk about the other two effects.

It's nice that the card combines both versions of Kaito, but realistically, it's just not going to work as well due to the two not being compatible. Photons don't Rank 8 unless you use GEPD (would've worked a lot better if you chose Galaxy) and Ciphers (well, they do what they need to). With that being said, you're mostly using this in Ciphers and the effect isn't bad. A concern is that you are stealing 2 monsters without cost and potential Rank-Up into Cipher Blade, but MR4 somewhat locks that option out a bit, so...guess it's fine. Ciphers haven't really done anything significant lately that would cause this effect to be busted.

Banish effect is generally okay as removal, but that's all it'd really offer to BEs and whatever LIGHT deck that wants to go into this over Cipher Dragon or other R8 generics that fill a bigger niche.

Really, my main concern in judging a card that tailors to Galaxy is A) how well it works with other Rank 8 Dragon-heavy Decks, usually Blue-Eyes or Chaos Dragon builds (deffo Blue-Eyes in this case) and, within Galaxy, how well it recoups your investment into it, given that Galaxy is cost-intensive in terms of its setup game.

Right now?

It seems to be alright,  this Genesic Dragon. Possesses stuff while you've made a Cipher monster as material, and does it for multiple threats, making it a strictly better G-E Cipher Dragon. I do think Links may actually help in making cards like this more useful as well, I just wish the Extra Deck wasn't so packed. As is tho, Titanic Galaxy and Photon Lord may have more lasting power than this, but not as much potential to get over big threats like, say, Utopia the Lightning-okay Cipher has it too, but this hits more threats. In theory.

I'm just mainly curious about it, I suppose. Perhaps making this a Rank 4 to help the Ciphers go into this as a mid-tier boss could help, but I'm well aware of how a possess-centered monster can get out of hand if not archetype-locked into oblivion (coughEvilswarmBahamutcough).

I suppose I like the card, but the Rank 8 pool feels a tad oversaturated at this point. Nothing on you, just the meta this card'll likely try to break into.
