[DISC] Thought Ruler Archfiend

Recommended Posts

This is my first thread on the TCG forum.

I searched for an existing thread with this card, but I couldn't find ^^
Card Lore]

1 Tuner + 1 or more non-Tuner monsters

When this card destroys a monster by battle and sends it to the Graveyard, gain Life Points equal to that monster's original ATK. You can pay 1000 Life Points to negate the activation of a Spell or Trap Card that targets 1 Psychic-Type monster, and destroy it.

My statement: So, he is "unaffected" to Spell and Trap Card and he also can protect other psychic monsters. And the Life Points you have paid, you can get back by battle. Maybe too powerful?! Or balanced?!

Discuss....

How to discuss:

 • The picture
 • Should it get banned, limited.....?
 • The card in general

Did you know for my first TDGS pack I pulled 2 Rares' date=' a shield warrior and an Ultimate rare Thought Ruler Archfiend? Pretty cool, eh?

That is how it is. You always get a rare. Some times you get that plus a super or better.

My first pack of TDGS had Montage Dragon.

I think it was my 13th pack of TDGS that I got my Ulty TRA.

Gotta love that art

Not even close to being banworty

Only use in Psychics' date=' due the high LP payment. Otherwise, just use Startdust.

Only use in Psychics?

This is one of the best Synchro monsters out right now. The fact that it has self-protection is what makes it good, but the Life Point gain is an extra effect that makes it even better.

His Life Point gaining effect is actually huge. That doesn't make him great by itself, but it can win games.

The only non-targeting S/T seen commonly in maindecks in this meta are Mirror Force and Torrential Tribute. Other popular cards are PWWB, Shrink, Enemy Controller, Book of Moon, Brain Control, Mind Control, Cumpulsary Evac Device, etc. Those all target. His protection effect is better against Anti-Synchro (Evac, PWWB, Shrink) and Pro-Synchro (Mind Control, Brain Control) tech. Stardust stops all the mass-destruction effects so it can handle the protection of a full field.

Basically, Thought Ruler Archfiend is a better stand-alone monster than Stardust.

The Pic is awesome

no

I actually think this card is better than a Stardust' date=' sure you have to pay life points but you get them back if he destroys a monster. The only bad thing is if you only have like 1000 life points left then it could be a problem

No, the bad thing about this card compared to Stardust is that he cannot protect himself from large-scale destruction like Lightning Vortex, nor can he stop monster effects.

On the plus side, cards that take down Stardust like Dimensional Prison and CED are useless against this guy.
