Card A
cFMQ5Yc.jpg
2 WATER monsters
You can only Special Summon 1 "Guiding Wisps of the Abyss" per turn. If you Synchro Summon using this card, the other Synchro Materials must be WATER. A Synchro Monster Summoned using this card cannot be targeted by your opponent's card effects.

Card B
Blaze Kraken
FIRE, Level 8
Aqua/Fusion/Effect
1 FIRE monster + 1 WATER monster
Must be either Fusion Summoned, or Special Summoned by Tributing the above cards you control (in which case you do not use "Polymerization"), and cannot be Special Summoned by other ways. Once per turn: You can target 1 card your opponent controls; destroy it, and if you do, inflict 1000 damage to your opponent. If this card destroys a monster by battle: Draw 1 card.
ATK 2600/DEF 2500

Card A has more/less generic requirements (as far as WATER monsters go), but gives targeting immunity to whatever Synchro you use it for.

It's nice for blocking Castel and whatever common removal that exists that is not sweep/non-targeting.

There is the WATER non-Tuner requirement for this card, but you'll already use this in WATER decks so that part is irrelevant for the most part.

Problem is trying to find a Deck that can afford to run Polymerization for this.

Oh wait, Instant Fusion is still a thing, so you can use that instead if needed.

------------

Card B's effect is nice, since it burns the opponent after it pops one of their cards and draws after it kills something.

Though, there aren't too many Decks (or at least, any viable ones) that run FIRE and WATER.

I guess you could combine Fire Kings and Atlantean/Mermail or something, but latter already works well together.

Maybe in a casual setting, this would work better (or if Konami ever releases an Archetype that can run both Attributes), but now, the one thing holding it back is consistency with those two. Flavor-wise, the materials fit but overall, there just isn't a Deck that can reasonably play this.

Blazeman might help, yes, but doesn't seem viable just for that one purpose.

-----

So yeah, voting for A on this one because of better usability (its Level is low enough for Instant Fusion to SS, and protection for whatever Synchro you want is nice).

Suppose it also opens windows for WATER decks that don't usually Synchro (or need options to access certain Levels).

B is really good but its issue is the Decks that can summon it consistently (you can summon this, but it'll require running a Deck with components that don't necessarily work the best together).

Card A

Pros:

A is nice because of the Instant Fusion play and because it doesn't need to actually alter a deck much that it's included in.

Being a level 5, it looks like a card to effectively help Graydles to bring out their boss, though it doesn't seem to directly help out other decks.

It's tuner status and its lack of any real on-field effect may is both a pro and con. On the pro side, it is completely resistant to negation and natural removal because it has no reason remain on the Field for longer than the initial turn anyway.

Cons:

...However, it is particularly useless outside its niche. No beneficial field effect, no stats. If, somehow it remained on the Field, it would a sitting duck.

Card B (Quite an amusing contrast between card's A and B)

Pros:

Mighty offensive capabilities with a secondary advantage building ability and with decent stats as well. On top of this, it doesn't seem that difficult to summon (Blazeman in a WATER deck?)

Cons:

Unfortunately, even with Blazeman and its own alternative summon, it isn't something that looks like it's terribly practical and ultimately feels excessive. On top of that, no protection and thus is susceptible to, well, everything.

I'm also going with Card A.
