I think Shadow Possession is just a secret the Nara Clan passes down. Shikamaru and Temari will be the godparents of Asuma and Kurenai's child, or children if it turns out she's expecting twins or whatever. Shikamaru and Temari will certainly have a child, by which time Gaara will obviously have at least a girlfriend. Then poor Kankuro will be all alone.
