Could any of the Anime Characters compete in the Metagame?

Recommended Posts

Any characters from the GX and before era would have a harder time in today's meta than 5D characters. Although we are assuming the older characters would not upgrade their decks with the times (which is unlikely).

Oh yeah I forgot to say Yugi could with his 3 god cards, if they were legal.

or because no card is useless

Its funny' date=' because I tend to view the game from this sort of perspective.

But the thing is, [i']ONLY[/i] Larvae Moth is the single most card that I find "useless" in most cases.

Konami cant just support that card and give it a Digimon-esque Warp Evoloution card to have it Transform from a Champion, by pass the Ultimiate, and become a Mega >__>

Facing the meta, they would have the 3 IRL effects.

Slifer would be illegal, the other two would suck.

sad but true. provided they ditched the highlander format, upgraded their decks with some decent cards, they'd probably stand some sort of chance.

Crow. No-one else of the main protagonists. Maybe Andore' date=' from the most recent episodes.

[/quote']

Andore's beast deck was cool, but he lost all merit when he summoned the Behemoth.

That monkey thing he summoned against Yusei in their first duel is awesome.

That wasn't his real deck. He used the real one against Jack...

Andore probably has multiple decks, IMO.

It was stated that he only used the Beast one to trick Yusei into making Jack go first. >___>

As for Andore's other one, it appears to be made specifically to counter Jack, so you may be right.

Guys' date=' an anime character would CRUSH any of us, I mean, they had THE HEART OF THE CARDS and stacking on their side and it's TOTALLY LEGAL for them.

So all of them.

[/quote']

Ignoring the superpowers and heart of the cards' date=' and assuming that they actually made their decks not highlander, then:

Andore

Crow

Kiryu

Aki

Rua (lolnoiwish)

[/quote']

Bandit Keith would beat everyone.

........In America

These 3 posts cover it.

That's what I'm talking about. You said that was the real deal, when it seems to be but one of many.

Yugi: I believe in the heart of the caOOF!! *DAD slamms his fist into him, making his LP 50*

Me: Are you really the king of games?

Yugi: No matter... this draw is my all! DRAW! *Gets Magic Cylinder*

Me: AttackUWAAAAA *explodes*

This, my friend, is impossible. From the 3rd part. The main characters have to be cheating. If they stop, I would kill them big time. Except Crow. He's the one real character who knows how to play children's card games.

Andore's team seems to be the closest thing to IRL players I've ever seen.

Teamwork, team meetings, probably, team strategy discussion, they even SOUND like IRL players at times.

Everyone else just repeatedly states the obvious and walks blind into junk, but stack to win.

None.

Most of the characters' decks are in highlander format' date=' since most cards are run it at one, making drawing the card they need rather stupidly difficult.

Also, lol @ Crow competing in the meta. He runs way too much garbage that are outclassed by other, real-life counterparts or that are just plain bad.

[/quote']

This.

Crow runs Fake Feather and Delta Crow, for gods sake.

Atem can actually alter fate' date=' so....

but I figured Yusei might have a a SLIGHT shot....

[/quote']

Not a hope.

In any case, Kaiba I think was the only person in the series of YGO ever to attempt at playing a deck that coulod actually work if reproduced IRL. Cyber Jar, Crush...blue-eyes dragon spam...it got outrageous already...then came obelisk. Lets not forget good old chaos emperor dragon there.

Anyway, most of the anime characters have been given terrible synergy in their decks so that it seems more like an anime, being drawn out battles and appealing ratings to the viewers, not to really provide much useful information to tournament players =P

Remember kids, Atem has the millenium puzzle, giving him the power to make him have any card he wants in a duel...(seriously, that WAS one of the puzzle's powers) and so go make one out of paper mache`...and buy yugioh cards today! lol

Now how bout we turn it the other way around? (if only for a few posts) do you think that you can take any decktype into the anime in a highlander format like they do and actually do well? With only 1 copy of a card at best its really rather difficult...

guys, if you want to know, play the WC games, they have their anime-to-real decks on there.

akiza's actually decent.

crow's a joke.

Yusei can synchro like a madman, but never does because the computer doesn't like to with him for some reason.

jack runs battle fader, dark bribe, bottomless, he has a very well built disruptor deck with a lot of big attackers.

What you have to realize is that their decks are built for a different Meta and a different way of dueling than our own. Plus, a lot of cards had different effects than what they do in the shows, so that's also a key difference. Therefore, you can't actually tell if they would be able to compete in the Metagame or not, because they would have a different deck.

Also, it should be noted that the reason they don't use a lot of the same cards (or the ones we call "Staples" or "Meta" cards) is because if you saw everyone using the same card over and over again, it would be boring, so they have to make different effects that activate different ways to make the show more interesting.

I've been waiting a long time for an anime character to use Final Countdown, and I was hoping for Paradox to use it, but he chose a random beatdown deck instead.

The jabroni...

Zane could pull of some insane strategies with the Deck Chimeratech Overdragon uses in WC07.

Rua's Morphtronic would be decent if built correctly, Aki's Black Garden Deck would be awesome and well-built Blackwing Decks are Tier 1. Pegasus could be great with a good Toon Deck, and Kaiba would kick ass should he be allowed to run Crush, Cyber Jar, CED and all that crap.
