That's a new low.

But even if Nanoha and Kagamin are exempt, comics!Batman and Antonio — and perhaps not even our site's Super Special Awesome inspiration! — aren't. :O

@Satan is evil for ten, etc:

Satan is just another angel. Ever read the Book o' Job? Pretty obvious he's just doing what God lets 'im, probably an adaptation of a trickster god from some assimilated Pagan religion.

There are three different entities that make up what we call Satan: Lucifer, Satan, and the Tempter.

In stories outside of the Bible (Christianity's "non-canon"...filler episodes, maybe?), Lucifer was created as the greatest among God's angels. Presumably he was the most powerful so that it would make sense that he could stand against God. Depending on the version, he may the most powerful of a certain rank of angel, with other angels like Michael being above him.

Satan is a generic Hebrew (I think) term meaning "adversary" or "enemy". This title would be described to any Gentile or pagan god, seeing as they were all enemies of the Lord of Abraham, Isaac, and Jacob. Presumably, this title turned into a name, with all foes being condensed into one.

The Tempter is listed in Job and other sources as one of the Lord's angels. This angel tested the faithful and so forth. Like many "tempter deities", the Tempter became attached to evilness etc. In some Gospels, it is the Tempter/Devil that tempts Jesus, other times it is definitively "Satan".

And christians don't have that stupid sexist view of "the man being the spiritual head of the family".

Not anymore' date=' but they certainly did back then.

[i']"Wives, be submissive to your husbands, as is fitting in the Lord. Husbands, love your wives and never treat them harshly." [/i] Col 3:18-4:18

Also, 12 male apostles, reference to around 3 relevant women in the entire Bible, no female prophets, etc. Jesus was always "the son of Joseph" or "the son of a carpenter".

Man has always taken center stage in history in just about every religion (can't claim to know them all).

Times have changed, thankfully, because now we have kitchens but for a long while Christianity was no different from any other religion in that regard. It still retains some alarming traditions, to be honest.

Outside of Christianity' date=' Satan isn't always a sign of evil. That's why satanism is often misperceived.

The person writing that site is a god damn nutjob who contradicts himself to "justify" his fetishes.

And christians don't have that stupid sexist view of "the man being the spiritual head of the family".

I think the site is actually a parody' date=' because there are some other sites that espouse similar views in a slightly more serious manner.

And as was said, Christians don't have that view [i']anymore.[/i] Well, for the most part. Some still do.

But the real point is this: We like to point to the Bible, old traditions, etc. to show what's morally wrong with the world today (GAY ARE EVIL!), but we're also so ready to discount the parts of the Bible that we find ridiculous as the product of an ancient mind (Well, God doesn't really want me to stone my neighbor just because he stole a chicken.). It's the same thing. The entire bible is old, and the entire bible is subject to the primitive views of ancient minds.

I'm not saying that there isn't any good in it, but it can't be used as evidence for why some Christians have an issue with gays. It's just not a valid argument.

I never argued with that to begin with. The Church nowadays is much too archaic for its own good, even if it has the need to uphold a series of values.

Just keep in mind the vast majority of today's believers aren't necessarily in tune with all of the Church's positions.

At least from what I've been taught, all the rules laid down in the old testament are struck down and replaced with what Jesus taught us.

Everyone quoting Leviticus is being stupid.

Also using a reference to the bible to open your argument is really lame, regardless of whether or not you're religious.

Meh' date=' screw the bible. Being gay is genetic, and is not a choice, SO IS THEREFORE PERFECTLY FINE.

[/quote']

Most of the time being gay is by choice. :/

How do you know? Do you have proof?

I am a gay male, and being gay was not a choice for me, although I am proud of being gay. Now I do understand that one does not apply to the whole, but how can you know this if you are not gay? Scientists have proven that homosexuality is a gene. Gene's aren't something we have a choice over, at least not yet. We can't choose the color of our hair or the color of our eyes. And we can't choose our sexual orientation... So no.... Most of the time being gay is not by choice... So unless you give me actual non-bible proof that most people who are gay are so by choice and that I'm the odd one in the bunch, I'll just assume that you are just another typical christian.

The Bible is listed as a non-fiction book. Meaning that everything in it (including homophobia and sexism and killing Jews and magic and psychics and zombies and ninjas and Pinocchio and incest) is completely true.

I assume everyone remembers all of those parts.

It's weird how some people can make crazy assumptions based on nothing solid, just the idea that that they know what other people are thinking. How could someone heterosexual possibly know how all homosexual people operate? And even when confronted with a firsthand "Actually, that's not true," they persist with their flawed thinking. "Most of the time being gay is by choice." What was the sample population of gay people that person talked to in order to reach that conclusion? Was the study biased in any way? Was there a control group (don't know how that would work)? Was the study approved by at least 4 out of 5 scientists? I severely doubt any of that happened, though a bias was probably involved (no, not Tobias).

As for the Bible thing, I'm gonna come out and say it: F the Bible. As many have said before, it is old. A lot of it just doesn't apply today. It has been subject to countless revisions, editing, corrections, translations, and outright censoring (political and personal) over the hundreds of years since it was written. It says gays are immoral and will burn in hell, but it also says a lot of other crazy things (though nothing about abortion). I don't really accept a lot of the Bible as fact, but there are a select few good ideas in it. Namely, the Ten Commandments. Everything else is just a good story. We can find dinosaur skeletons, black holes, and DNA, but we can't find a giant ark on a mountain? Not buying it. Shellfish, homosexuality and misogyny are things I won't look to the Bible for advice about, but I can agree that killing, stealing and being a general douche are bad.

I'm pretty sure homosexuals know whether their homosexuality was a choice or not. So if TheAlpha claims to be a non-choiced homosexual, that doesn't mean we should apply that to everyone, but most likely he is right about himself. :/

I don't like the Ten Commandments or the Seven Deadly Sins. That's just me, though. i liek killen n glutaony
