Guest PikaPerson01
I don't really give a damn about Appointer of Red Lotus. I noticed a meme on here about something about cards that are Red or something, typically with something about them being faster or something. =\ I figured having "Appointer of Red Lotus" would attract tons of people to say "it's red so it's fast olololo" or something so I pose the question! What's up with this whole 'Red' card meme? Can someone explain please? =D

GraveHorizon
Old meme is old (and stupid). Can't stand it. There is no scientific basis for things moving faster just because- Wait, everyone already knows that, what am I getting all worked up for? Maybe because everyone decides to make the joke at the same time. There should be a limit on the number of times a meme can be used in the same thread per day. The actual card is a much more expensive targeting version of Lightforce Sword. I can't imagine any practical reason the card should exist. Unless you want to give up 2000 Life Points, though there are certainly better cards for that. Is it a Psychic thing?
Master of Chaos™
I really don't know what this about Red Card being faster is but i see no particular use for this card. Not only you lose 2000 Points and reveal your hand but the removed card returns to your opponent the next turn. It is simply Useless.

White Void
The actual meme is part of a much larger one that is common in communities dealing with any sort of anime or manga-related product, the source of the meme comes from the original Mobile Suit Gundam series. There's a character by the name of Char Aznable who had all his mechs custom painted red and he was known to be an ace pilot whose units were rumored to peform at 3x their normal speed. Since the entire Gundam franchise is as universally culturally known to the Japanese as Star Wars is to Americans, references to things that are red being 3x faster and/or better have shown up frequently in Japanese made media. I have no idea who started the meme on YCM but whoever it was must have been a mech fan or at least someone with a decent knowledge of anime to know about it. /Actual Answer <_< ....This is an interesting article saying that scientifically people percieve the color red as moving faster than other colors:http://www.cbc.ca/technology/story/2010/02/26/tech-brain-colour-sport.html?ref=rss I see a Red Lotus and want to paint it Black. I mean how could you fire a torpedo so fast? I thought whatever you fire continues traveling at plus-speed (if that makes any sense). Like when fighter jets fire their missiles. Would they just float next to the jets themselves due to traveling really fast already, or would the speed of the jet be added to the speed of the missile? (Like throwing a baseball while standing on the hood of a moving racecar.) And there's no friction in space, so nothing out there to slow you down. I guess the ship would have to gain speed faster than the projectile in order to overtake it.
CrabHelmet
I made a topic in which I insisted that Yusei's D-Wheel should get 3 Speed Counters per turn on the grounds that it was red, referencing the old Mobile Suit Gundam meme. Nobody got it. Then, after they eventually did get it, they have since felt the need to reference it every bloody time anything vaguely related to the colour red has emerged. Scatty
Red is faster. The higher the speed something is moving away from an observer, the redder its color for that observer. That's called redshift. OT: never heard of that card, and too bored to look it up
GraveHorizon
Red is faster. The higher the speed something is moving away from an observer' date=' the redder its color for that observer. That's called redshift.[/quote'] So the color red denotes a higher speed? But then it should only apply to certain objects moving away from the observer, not a stationary item painted red. This meme fosters ignorance! Fast objects are red because they're fast, not fast because they're red. Wait, is the redshift noticeable to the naked human eye? Can we even perceive something going fast enough? When I hear "redshift", I think of Blue Shift. I wish I had it.
Toffee.
that it was red' date=' referencing the old Mobile Suit Gundam meme.[/quote']Thing is, its not even much of a meme. Char's mechs being the same color as his uniform is common in Gundam animes, where the main villain/hero has a mech that somehow resembles said character, and/or has some kind of relation to him as well. What made it a meme is the fact how he claims they are faster because they are red.

Ok, so I sort of messed it up slightly.Memes dont realy become memes unless they are mentioned and/or finalized in some manner.Char having mechs that are his color, tell you whih mech he is in, as its common for robots/mechs/giant metal objects that resemble military/etc to have colors for there rank.Like how Battle Droids with a yellow spot on there chest are the squad commanders, ones with red shoulders use rocket launchers, etc, etc."Red" only became a meme because Char eventually said "MY RED MECHS ARE 3 TIMES FASTER LOLOLOLOLOL!!!"Thus, its a meme.
