I remember people swapping drained LaDD for Cyber Twin and hitting for game, but I'm not sure if the time matches.

Yes but you'd also have to ban Tragoedia with them otherwise you would have to ban a bunch of other otherwise balanced Fusions as well. Killing Trag along with Cyber Twin and Cyber End is the best way to allow this to be at 3.

The thing is, the cards you would have to ban to have Metamorphosis at 3 are either banworthy or rather questionable in their own rights. Cyber Twin Dragon and Cyber End Dragon are both banworthy anyway so next it becomes kill Metamorphosis for Trag, kill Trag for Metamorphosis or kill a bunch of balanced Fusion Monsters to save both. Now killing a bunch of otherwise balanced Fusion Monsters for 2 cards is senseless so the option of banning a bunch of Fusions to save Trag and Metamorphosis is out. A Spell card that can aid the playability of some Fusion Monsters gives more to the game than a relatively splashable not as good as Gorz, Gorz + Level manipulation + Brain Control so I'd be all for banning Trag for Metamorphosis.

Metamorphosis only grabs Fusions.

 

Now, Metamorphosis works along with 2 other cards - a Fusion Monster, and a monster in play. Tragoedia -> Cyber End is the most commonly cited problem, though Level 8 -> Cyber Twin is also arguable.

 

Conveniently, Tragoedia is unquestionably bannable. Cyber End is also a bannable card. That helped, especially since Tragoedia can adjust its Level to become a Tribute to summon a lower-level Fusion Monster.

 

Now we just have to deal with Level 8 -> Cyber Twin. In this case, we have to figure out Level 8 monsters that can be summoned easily enough that using Metamorphosis on them is practical. Well, there's Beastking Barbaros, and...no, actually, I can't think of any others. LaDD arguably, but other than that I can't think of any solid targets. Am I missing something?

Metamorphosis can stay where it is. Fusions were meant to be Summoned by Fusion Summon, not because of a stupid card that lets you abuse them to the point that a single Tribute means game.

I know that Meta can only grab fusions.

 

It's that Synchros are easier to summon, and give you the right levels for Metamorphisis, so that you dont need to main deck lollevel10/others.

 

On a "balanced" list, it could come back, but then, they will never be a relevant "balanced" list.

Yeah, but said monsters also need to be easy enough to summon to be a valid target. And, of course, it also needs to be a trade that's worth it. Barbaros Ur is stupid, Dark Nephthys and Nephthys are more or less valid, Plasma is too good, Doom Dozer works I guess, Heraklinos is far too good, Guardian of Order works but is...bad, Kasha is a very good target, Goryu works, Montage Dragon is awful, The Creator isn't good enough, The Dark Creator works I suppose, Tytannial definitely works, Van'Dalgyon might work.

oh god using Ab0 for metamorphosis would be hell. anyways, various fusions instantly become playable because of this, a little like Future Fusion (both do very different things obviously). Anyways, if all of the best fusions were banned then Metamorphosis would be fine at three, but what would be the point then? might as well keep it banned.
