A ban list has many many things that can be discussed about it, so there can be more than one topic about it. If there is flooding, and I or Pika or Crab or another Super deem it needed, there will be an official list topic for discussion posted.

 

If another post is made of this sort, complaining about how I mod a forum, then it will be deleted. If you want to discuss it, do it via PM. Don't clog my threads with it.

Banlist discussions only become prevalent around the time the newest banlist comes out. Why make a subforum that only gets used for about 4 weeks out of the year?

Bans:

Rescue Cat: GOOD Then why wasn't it banned when the list after the set it was in was out? Tell me that n00b. : I don't really see any people seriously arguing against this one. It's a broken card, plain and simple. Should have been banned a few lists ago.

Heavy Storm: GOOD/UGLY(?) Bad it punishes over extensions and with out it I see Burn coming back soon.: Don't get me wrong, Storm is a broken card and if we were to just look at the card itself it's plain as day that it should be banned. It's just that the formats of the past, Storm has acted as a sort of buffer against things like "set 5, go". Now, with the Unlimiting of Black Rose Dragon, this might not be a problem. Time will tell.

Brain Control: GOOD: Finally! Took them long enough. It's been banworthy ever since Synchros were released, and maybe even a bit before.

Substitoad: GOOD: Frogs as a theme might not have gotten off the ground until Ronintoad, but Substitoad is the whole reason they work at all. Certainly banworthy.

 

Limits:

Black Whirlwind: GOOD: Pretty much the only Blackwing card that needs to get hit. If they went one step further and banned the damn thing, they could have unlimited Gale No it's not just good in Blackwings.

Royal Oppression: BAD: Seriously? Anti-meta never should deserve to have list attention, especially something that, quite simply, isn't broken. A reactionary deck relies on the broken cards that they're reacting against, not the other way around.

Infernity Launcher: GOOD: Again, should have gone a step farther. Other than that, excellent choice.

Trishula, Dragon of the Ice Barrier: GOOD: See Infernity Launcher. I'm guess they're gonna release Trishula in some form or another soon, so Konami didn't want to outright ban it until they got their sales in.

Monster Reborn: BAD : Ew, costless generic revival. Horrible card for the game.

Dark Hole: BAD/UGLY: Seriously, Konami? Generic mass monster removal that fits in ANY DECK? This is not gonna end well, me thinks.

 

Semi-Limits:

Mystical Space Typhoon: GOOD: One step closer to it's proper place Then you would want it banned.. Honestly, out of all the movements on the list, this was the one I was least expecting. Good job, Konami.

Chaos Sorcerer: BADISH: I think that this card, in an ideal environment, would be banned, but in the environment that we're in right now, it's really not doing anything bad. So yeah, go ahead.

Snipe Hunter: BADISH: See Chaos Sorcerer.

Ojama Trio: GOOD: I love me some Ojama Trio. Let's get it to 3 so we can have some real fun! But honestly, it being Limited really didn't make much sense in this day and age.

Magic Cylinder: GOOD: Put it to 3, and you still won't see any reasonable usage of this card.

You must not have a Tier 1 burn deck at locals then. Jerk.

Unlimits:

Black Rose Dragon: GOOD/BAD: Should be banned in an ideal format, but in a format without enough mass S/T removal to go around, it at 3 is a logical choice.

Goblin Zombie: GOOD: Should have never been whatever it was before. Semi-Limited, was it?

Cyber Dragon: BAD: Awesome. Now we're probably gonna have ANOTHER format defined by Cyber Dragon abuse.

Treeborn Frog: GOOD/BAD: It's broken. Just not broken enough for this format. I'm really not that excited about this one.

Royal Decree: GOOD: Unlimited is where it belongs.

United We Stand: BAD: Lets you OTK pretty much out of nowhere. Now with MST being at 2, it might be less likely, but it's still not what I would have done.

I honestly don't know how to respond to some of those. Your comment with regards to Rescue Cat seems to suggest, along with your name, that you can't really have an unbiased opinion on the card. It wasn't banned because Konami is horrible at making effective, timely lists, except in special cases (Dimension Fusion being e-banned and Dark Strike Fighter getting banned after one list).

 

Gale is a solid card, but it isn't Limitworthy.

 

MST is a card that has no business being at any number other than 3.

 

And I would probably refrain from calling a person who could ban you a "n00b". Not saying you have to stop, just wondering if it's the smartest thing in the world.

And I think Konami is expirementing with the idea of putting Space Typhoon@2, as the next list might actually have it@3.

It came out before synchros and tuners were introduced. Before a Beast Tuner was introduced, and before many of the currently used combos existed. That being said, plenty of clearly broken cards took forever to get banned, and plenty are still around. <_<

i hate frogs but i dont think that they should have banned substitoad(maybe stick it at 1)

 

Monster Reborn and Call of the Haunted available to play - wouldn't it have been more balanced to do Premature instead of Reborn?

Dark Hole - Why bring something back thats been on there forever when Torrential Tribute is 1000x better

Heavy Storm:Good. Its always been a pretty even debate, but just get the extra MST missing and some other S/T removal released and this will not be needed. It is a broken card by itself anyways (despite how much it is said its "needed")

Brain Control: Good. Helped in so many OTKs, it was about time.

Substitoad: Good. If frogs are so dependent on this card, they deserve to die. Card is a Deck-emptier piece of brokenness

 

Limits:

Black Whirlwind: Good. It could be better but I think this will suffice for now. On another note, I strongly disagree with the "Gale" argument of the first post. Its a once per turn permanent shrink for ATK and DEF that is also a Tuner, and a Self-Special Summoning one in its Blackwing Deck. It is not balanced on its own.

Royal Oppression: hmm.. I don't know about this one. Its pretty annoying, but its not that hard getting around it. Being a staple is not enough of a reason... meh

Infernity Launcher: Its going in the right direction. Needs the ban but its ok I guess

Trishula, Dragon of the Ice Barrier:Good, its a +0 that gives a lot of control and is a fairly big beatstick too...

Monster Reborn: Horrible... There was no need for this.

Dark Hole: Even worse. This is essentially a Raigeki that can trigger your own Starlight Road. Free and splashable mass monster removal is just a bad joke

 

Semi-Limits:

Mystical Space Typhoon: Good, I think it'll actually hit 3 eventually.

Chaos Sorcerer: meh.. lets see

Snipe Hunter: see above

Ojama Trio: Bad, this card can make pretty bad combos and help OTKs. Not to mention better opportunities at locking monster zones consistently with cards as versatile as this one.

Magic Cylinder: I think its good. I want to see how it'll work out

 

Unlimits:

Black Rose Dragon: Bad. Banning mass card removal in its place does not justify getting this mass removal card at 3. Its an easy field nuker that's too splashable. Konami definitely does want Starlight Road to be heavily used this year...

Goblin Zombie: Good.

Cyber Dragon: Good. I don't think its a big impact except maybe watching a little more often Cyber End/Twin around. It has many clones at 3 already so it shouldn't matter much

Treeborn Frog:Good. There is no difference. Probably a little more consistent but that's it. And its already pretty easily searched anyways.

Royal Decree: Good.

United We Stand: Its a pretty big boost but I don't think it should be that different to what the changes were with Mage Power at 3. I could be wrong...

 

The list has many good things in my opinion, but a couple choices were plain bad and kinda overshadow the rest...

As has been stated many times in several threads, all decks will run Premature Burial @4 if it's Limited. Also, some decks will be able to search it on top of that.
