I found this one to be incredibly emotional and inspiring. I don't think there was any better song they could used for that scene. It's sad and beautiful yet makes you feel like a total badass for that fight while giving you a sense of satisfaction. Also, if your DMW activates during the electric guitar parts, it makes it all the more awesome.

This is probably one of my favorite VGMs of all time.

If you are having serious activity issues, you may want to consider passing this thread onto Clair. She's a ton more active, and I see her signature updated more than this thread, no offense. I can't make you do anything since I don't own this thread anymore, but I gave it to you originally because you claimed to be more active. I know you have personal problems, but it doesn't take an hour to upload one song, and we haven't had an update for at least two weeks now.

Eh, if you can get your activity back up you can keep the thread, but otherwise let Clair take a crack at it.

The Video Game Music Station Mark II

Generic Radio Station : May 28, 2010
A Secret Course from Super Mario Sunshine

I adore the Mario Theme, I think it's one of the most ingeniously catchy pieces of music ever written and that it contributed to the success of Super Mario Bros. This is a delightful acapella remix of an iconic theme. I used to hum the Mario Theme, now I make "doo" sounds instead, thanks to this piece.

Melody Town from Kirby's Epic Yarn

I love Piano Solo pieces, and this one has a wonderfully ragtime feel about it. It isn't so jazzy as to put casual listeners off it, but it's a great introduction to ragtime. It's catchy, upbeat and light - not of the normal "epic" standard of VGM we normally see here at the VGMStation. Please don't let this put you off it - I guarantee, it's little pieces like this that open your mind.

Butter Building from Kirby's Epic Yarn

Kirby's Epic Yarn has the best soundtrack in a video game this year. Fact. There is not one piece from that game that I will refuse to listen, all of it is wonderful. This piece is a great remix of the original Butter Building theme, and it has a wonderfully upbeat nostalgia to it.

Gourmet Race from Kirby's Epic Yarn

More fantastic music from the game with the soundtrack of the moment, Kirby's Epic Yarn. This piece relies a lot on sheer nostalgia, but take off the nostalgia glasses for a second and remind yourself of the first time you heard this - it was so fresh, so simple - it's a great piece.
Goldenrod Tower : May 30, 2010
Kanto Champion Battle from Pokemon Black & White

When I heard FireRed & LeafGreen's Champion Battle, I was really disappointed. It was terrible, cluttered, and the fact that I absolutely hate the 3rd Generation's soundfont made it worse. When I heard this though, I was absolutely blown off my feet. I thought that the addition of a drumbeat would kill it, but it just makes it so much more tense. Kanto still has the best Champion theme ever.

Emotion from Pokemon Black & White

This is a beautiful, sonata-like piece, and as with all sad VGM, a lyrical, minor piano solo plays a big part in making it sad. Black & White has some really fantastic music in it.

Route 10 from Pokemon Black & White

The best Route music in the game - yes, I've already decided. This bucks the trend of typical route themes by being quite melancholy in it's tone - Route 209 was nothing like this. Black & White is shaping up to be more adult than it's predecessors, and that seems fantastic.
Tune Nostalgia : June 4, 2010
Stickerbrush Symphony/Bramble Blast from Donkey Kong Country 2 - Diddy Kong's Quest

Arguably the best SNES level theme ever. It commands this wonderful sense of not only nostalgia, but atmosphere. Grant Kirkhope stumbled across a real gem when composing this - it is so incredibly atmospheric, so compelling. Fantastic, fantastic piece.
Remix Revamp : June 16, 2010
Bramble Blast from Donkey Kong Land 2 (Game Boy)

A wonderful 8-bit remix of the brooding SNES original, and it really pulls it off with a shine. You can see that Kirkhope genius and the bluesy undertones in this piece, and although the drums are slightly off-putting when they come in, this piece is definitely a fine remix.
Warning! Challenger Approaching! : June 28, 2010

Yourequest : June 25, 2010

Criminally Short : November 21, 2010
Title Screen from Kirby's Epic Yarn

I absolutely adore the music from Kirby's Epic Yarn, and this piece is one of the highlights. I was really upset when it ended so quickly, so upset that I made a new station called "Criminally Short", especially for pieces like this.

Low Health Battle from Pokemon Black & White

This piece is breathtaking, but not in a beautiful way. It's just really, really tense. I used to find the "beep-beep" low health noise really annoying, and I love how they've remixed it into the song.

Inishie from Pokemon Black & White

This is a piece that doesn't sound very fitting for Pokemon at all - it's very Zelda-esque and lyrical. But boy does it sound good. And that really is all that matters when it comes to music.

Beyond Space from Ristar the Shooting Star

Ristar is a tragedy - an ingeniously brilliant platformer that was criminally ignored. One of SEGA's many ditched concepts, and it makes you feel sad - this is in my opinion the best platformer you've never played. This music makes me feel kind of sad, as it reminds me of how little appreciation Ristar got. Spread the word, I beg you.
Yesyesyesyes. I've been waiting for this moment. ;D

Scott Pilgrim vs. The World - Anthem (GEN/YR)

The first thing that comes to my mind when I listen to this song is "old and new". The refreshing blips and beeps of the 8-bit era are all featured in this song, something I really love. However, these retro beats are also backed up by an epic guitar and drumline, giving the song a modern feel while maintaining a certain nostalgic value. All of these elements combine together to form what is now my favorite VGM on any system. I could listen to this for days, and I hope you like it.

Pokemon Colosseum - Semi-final Battle (GT/YR)

This station demands more Colosseum/XD battle music, or music in general. With that said, I present this piece. It opens with a sick slap bass line that constitutes the backbeat, then explodes into a cascade of various instruments. In true Colosseum form, this song is beautifully orchestrated. It feels airy to me, and the guitar seems to rip through your body with each stroke. The synth is in full feature, and with that, I make my case for more Colosseum music.

Castlevania: Dracula X - Opus 13 (TN/YR)

I did not expect to hear this jazzy beat when I first played Dracula X on my now extinct SNES. However, I can assure you that I was pleasantly surprised. The beat is oddly... erm, funky, at least for a game that focuses on a darker culture. I love jazz, so it's only natural that I appreciated these swinging beats and riveting synth lines. All the goodness that came with SNES music is combined with the swing of jazz... and you get Opus 13.

Chrono Trigger - Corrupter of Time (RR/YR)

I'm horrified that neither station has any Chrono Trigger music in it yet. Well, hopefully with this request, that will change. Overclocked has a history of great remixes, but this one, by Joren de Bruin and Tweek is beautifully over the top. The original song remixed was Corridor of Time, and the soul-shredding guitar licks in this piece take a radical departure from the original. I love how the piece transfers from moving to headbanging moods in a matter of seconds. Stay tuned for the solo at 3:04!

Shadow of the Colossus - Revived Power (WCA/YR)

This song is beautiful, and I feel bad just saying that about it. No, this song is beyond beautiful, a masterpiece of modern VGM, if you will allow me to call it that. This track captures the thrill of battle, the rush of adrenaline that ensues, and an overall epic sound. It grabs you from the start with jarring chords, then it serenades you with a glorious sound while you take down the gigantic Colossus. That there is no SotC music in here yet is rather criminal, so I really hope you decide to add it.

Okamiden - Track 1 (CS/YR)

Oooh, a new shiny station. This place is perfect for me to post this rendition from the sequel to the glorious Okami. As expected, this track is reminiscent of it's predecessor, as it contains music heavily influenced by Japanese music. I absolutely adore this track, and it's a shame that it is only around half a minute long. That, I would say, is criminally short. I definitely think this is the music to an opening cutscene, but oftentimes those obscure tracks are the most beautiful.

YOUREQUEST.
Portal: Still Alive
I've been trying to get this in for a while now. In case you've never played Portal, the idea behind it is that you are in the Lab of Aperture Science, and you were chosen for experimentation. After you make it through quite a few sadistic trials, you finally get to meet the infamous GLaDOS. A talking sequence begins, and during it, you knock out GLaDOS' 'Morality' core, thus causing her to spread toxic gas across the chamber. Once she's beaten, a wonderful ending credits song starts, sung by our dear GLaDOS herself. Or maybe it's the Companion Cube. ;D

Also, for Remix Revamp.
Pokemon Ranger BGM: Go-Rock Quads Battle REMIX
I don't remember if it was in or not though, and I didn't see it.

Plants vs. Zombies Music Video
This has to be put up. This is just too awesome to not be requested. After you beat the main game, you unlock this super special awesome song, and I can't stop listening to it. It's quite catchy, and the Zombies are priceless in it. Especially the Mechanic one. To think, you go through the entire game, and when you beat the Zombies in the final level, you get a note that says something along the lines of, "Okay, we don't want to eat your brains. Now we want to be in a music video with you." Paraphrased, but it's the same idea. This game has me hooked. <3

I'm glad to see this is back on track, and do expect updates from me in the near future, once my schedule mellows down a bit.

If you haven't already, check Gritzy Desert from Mario & Luigi: Partners in Time is a very well-composed song, and one of my favorites from one of my favorite games.
