RL is garbage. Anime effect is excellent, at least in the context of the 4000 LP scenario.

It should have done more damage than 100x. 300x would have been like a DD Dynamite that counts your monsters.

Rank 3 is probably one of the easiest to bring out, but I wouldn't say No. 17 is bad, just not amazing. And Black Ray Lancer will probably be epic. Aero Shark is probably the worst Xyz monster in the game, although Baby Tragon is hardly good.

*audible gasp* Have you not seen all of Yuma's combos with it!? He is godly!

*can't find "[/sarcasm]" statement*

First, tell me what 3 level 1 monsters can consistently get out Tragon. Next tell me the non-Gagaga Magician monster you'd use for its effect. Now tell me how much effort is going to be put into bringing out a vulnerable 900/900 Rank 1 Xyz when Opti-Camoflauge Armor has the same effect and targets, but is an Equip Spell and therefore both searchable and doesn't require 3 other monsters to bring out, plus the target.

Guys, Aero Shark's OCG effect was given to it before it had a chance to do anything in the anime.
So... yea.

Those cases usually have the card with the same effect as RL, or eventually changed to be the same as real life. Blackfeather Dragon started with a different effect in the anime, got released in RL, and eventually changed the anime effect to match.

Very rarely is it done in reverse, with the RL effect already being made, but the anime ignoring it. Then again, maybe the anime scripts are written beforehand.

Aero's effect is only different because of plots.
Yuma had to lose the duel the turn Black Ray Lancer hit the field.
Unless Aero did enough damage, Yuma would still have survived another turn or so.
IRL Aero would have done 0 damage.
Anime Aero did like 2000 with effect damage alone.
Kind of a BS reason to change the effect, but then again, the anime does that all the time
Thought we knew that Aero Shark was powerful enought to finish a duel quickly when we saw him Beat Yuma's friend in a single turn...O_O
But we didnt even see the whole duel.
It was just Shark attacking whats-his-face for game.

We didn't see the duel there from beginning to end. We saw the duel with

Shark: 4000, controls Big Jaws and Skull Kraken
Tetsuo: 800, empty field

Didn't something like that happened to Elemental HERO Inferno too?
I mean that it meant to have those effects, but writers only bother writing the effects that are being used during that time.
Due to laziness or maybe because they don't want (new?) readers to get too mixed up/confused with that's happening in the Duel... or for the sake of lolplottwists.
Then the people that release the cards just randomly publish them as bait for the manga or TCG clients, without telling the people that made up the card so that they could inform about those adjustments.
Then again, it might also be that writers made up effects as they went in order to fit the situation and make [x] player win or have an extra advantage they shouldn't normally have.

^Those are just theories, but a mangaka I know about @DeviantArt wrote in her journal once, that the company that published her work randomly told her they were publishing a 3 in 1 giant volume of her work. Just that morning. Without previous info on it. So I don't think the idea is "too" out of place there.

-----------

Now a little more on topic:
They should have given it the treatment of doubling the amount of damage for real-life use because we play with twice the Life Points. I think they actually did this once.
I wouldn't mind it if it stayed 100 per.. if it had the other effect.
One of the worse Xyz I've seen so far. I'd use it in a Shark Fan-Deck.

Is it just me or does this have awesome art?
Not just you.

Also, this has this own OTK.

1. Get Chain Material + Fusion Gate like a boss
2. Go for 6 random LV3 Fusions from the good old times.
3. Play your iPod with badass BGMs and proceed to Xyz 3 Aero Sharks.
4. Summon Five-Headed Dragon 3 times. (Can be really anything, but just since it makes the deck's overall structure a bit better.)
5. Show your opponent the 27 monsters removed.

...Except it's stupid.
