The Dark Knight
I consider family anyone who I would be a mess if they died or were gone for a very long time OR anybody who I am related to by blood.

Umbra
If we're related by blood and/or we live together on a regular basis due to parental relationships, we're family.

Tourmaline
My family is the list of people who I am related in blood to. Whether or not one is close to another is not pertinent. Being close simply means you're close family. Being far means you're not close and family nonetheless.
Makο
Family, to me, is someone who is related to me by blood or marriage. They're the ones I love, and would do anything to keep in my life. Simple as that.
Mehmani
My second family go by the old Cockney philosophy - if you come into the house and offer to make tea for yourself and the head of family, you're in.

Bull3tM0nk3y
Related to you, or they know your family quite well, and you have fun with them. Like my sis, she's not related to any of us, but she's like a sis to me...
CrystalCyae
Family... I consider them to be the people I know and love, the people I couldn't live without.
So true. And, of course, those related by blood or marriage. However, I DID have a great grandma who died recently (the last great grandparent from either side of my family), but I didn't consider her family due to that we've never met. Same goes for some distant relatives like a great aunt or something.
Ieyasu Tokugawa
To all people who said any blood reletives: And adopted sibling isn't family? Blood plays a big part, but there are some blood related people that are just so bad you don't want to be their family, and there are some people that get so close that you can't help but consider them family. Blake
Depends. I consider the people closest to my heart family. Family by blood. My little stepbro and his mother... But not his big brother. Depends on where they earned their way to my heart.
Icy
True blood Islander Philosophy on this: A stranger is just a friend you've yet to meet, and every stranger is a part of your community, your family. No matter who are what, you are not above or beneath them, you are a part of them and them a part of you. One is given this until the right is lost, it should not be earned it should be given... Yeah, lol. Na'Ohana, it was called while I was in Elementary. I still keep to it.

Shradow
Blood related or in-laws, of course. Also, anyone really close to me, or close to one of my blood-related family members. Like one of my uncles, who's not really my uncle but a good friend of my mom's, though he is my godfather. Also, my sister's friend. Her parents are divorced so she's between her mom and her dad's house, but she's over at ours so much she literally lives 1/3 of her life at our house and is like a sister to me. TwinSeed
Your blood-relations are only there by technicalities. Family isn't who you're related to; family is the few people who help you through anything/everything. Out of the 7 or so people that I live with, I only consider my mom family. Cin
I more or less class someone as family who's blood related usually, but Grandad was adopted, so I class that family as my family too. If I see them quite often then I class family as close family (the usually parents, sister, etc)
Christian Exodia
I consider family just as the ones in my tree, adopted or not(I'm sure that one of my cousins is adopted from Guatamala, not sure about my other). Just consider friends as friends; sadly, right now, I have drifted from my Elementary friends; only my Elementary and 6th Grade Enemies are in my classes(I see Kyle on the way to Math, and a couple of Elementary friends in Technology. THAT IS IT.)

Raine
Family is who is important to you and vise versa, I think blood has nothing to do with it but it helps. I have Aunts and Uncles who I have either never met or I refuse to see again for good reason. Its all about you care about and depend on and go through troubles together.
