[spoiler=Top 8 Coverage Match]

The final matchup of the Top 8 pits Olly Problem and his Tengu Synchro Deck against Dog King's Nordics. Nordics are considered an underdog in this matchup, but just maybe they can prove otherwise and take down Olly's fabled Deck.

 

Olly wins Rock, Paper, Scissors and chooses to go first.

 

He Sets a card and Normal Summons Thunder King Rai-Oh.

 

During Dog's Draw Phase, he flips Trap Dustshoot, choosing to return Dog's Tanngrisnir of the Nordic Beasts to the Deck. Dog Sets a card to each zone.

 

Olly Tributes Rai-Oh to Summon Caius, the Shadow Monarch and activates its effect, targeting and banishing Dog's Ryko, Lightsworn Hunter. He attacks directly.

Dog activates Pot of Duality, revealing Guldfaxe of the Nordic Beasts, Solemn Judgment, and Sangan. He chooses Sangan and Sets a monster.

 

Olly Normal Summons Lonefire Blossom and activates its effect, Special Summoning Dandylion from his Deck. He ends his turn without attacking.

 

Dog Flip Summons his Sangan and activates his Set Gleipnir, the Fetters of Fenrir to add Guldfaxe of the Nordic Beasts to his hand. He Normal Summons it and activates Mind Control on Dandylion. He then Synchs his three monsters to Synchro Summon the Polar God: Thor, Lord of the Aesir! Dandylion's effect Special Summons 2 Fluff Tokens to Olly's Field, and Sangan searches for Effect Veiler. Thor slams its hammer down upon Caius.

Olly Normal Summons Debris Dragon and Special Summons Dandylion from the Graveyard. He Synchs all his monsters and Tokens for Trishula, Dragon of the Ice Barrier! Dog discards Effect Veiler to negates its effect, and Olly gets 2 Fluff Tokens from Dandylion's Effect.

 

Dog Normal Summons Tanngnjostr of the Nordic Beasts and destroys both Fluff Tokens, then Sets a backrow.

 

Olly Normal Summons Tour Guide From the Underworld, activating its effect to Special Summon another copy from his Deck. He Overlays his two Tour Guides to Xyz Summon Leviar, the Sea Dragon! He detaches a Guide, Special Summoning Dog's banished Ryko, Lightsworn Hunter. He then activates Monster Reborn to revive Debris Dragon, and Synchs Debris with Ryko for Orient Dragon! Orient Dragon's effect targets Dog's Thor and banishes it.

 

Trishula attacks Tanngnjostr, and Dog flips Gleipnir, the Fetters of Fenrir to search another Tanngnjostr of the Nordic Beasts. As the first is destroyed, Dog Special Summons the new one from his hand, sparing his Life Points from defeat. Leviair destroys this one, and Orient Dragon attacks directly!

Dog reveals his hand of Mystical Space Typhoon, Solemn Judgment, and Monster Reborn. With no options against Olly's Field, he concedes the duel! Olly's constant threats prevents the Nordics from maintaining a solid field and seizes Game 1. Dog King will be starting the second duel!

Dog Sets a card to each zone.

 

Olly also Sets a card to each zone.

 

Dog activates Mystical Space Typhoon from his hand, but Olly chains Scapegoat, Special Summoning 4 Sheep Tokens to his Field. Dog Sets a monster.

 

Olly Tributes his facedown Sangan for Caius, the Shadow Monarch. He targets Dog's first Set monster, and Dog chains Bottomless Trap Hole. Both Caius and Tanngrisnir of the Nordic Beasts are banished, and Sangan searches for Lonefire Blossom. Olly Sets a backrow.

 

Dog also Sets a backrow.

 

Olly Normal Summons Lonefire Blossom, and Dog activates Solemn Warning, paying 2000 to negate the Summon! Olly sets a backrow.

He activates Monster Reborn for Lonefire Blossom and activates its effect for Dandylion from his Deck. He Synchs Formula Synchron, Dandylion, and the three remaining Sheep Tokens for Stardust Dragon. Dandylion's Effect Special Summons 2 Fluff Tokens. Stardust attacks the facedown Sangan, and Dog Special Summons Tanngnjostr of the Nordic Beasts from his hand in Defense. Sangan's effect searches for Effect Veiler.

 

Dog switches Tanngnjostr to Attack Position, activating its effect. Olly Chains Maxx "C", allowing him to draw a card every time Dog Special Summons this turn. Dog Special Summons Guldfaxe of the Nordic Beasts by Tanngnjostr's effect, and Olly draws. Dog activates Mind Control on Stardust, and then Synchs his two Nordic Beasts for Black Rose Dragon, but Olly flips Solemn Warning, negating the Summon for 2000 LP! Dog Sets a backrow.

Olly activates Mystical Space Typhoon, targeting the new facedown, but Dog chains Gleipnir, the Fetters of Fenrir, adding Guldfaxe of the Nordic Beasts to his hand. Olly Normal Summons Debris Dragon and revives Dandylion. He Synchs Debris, Dandylion, and the 2 Fluff Tokens for Trishula, Dragon of the Ice Barrier! Dog flips Bottomless Trap Hole, but Olly Tributes Stardust to negate the effect. Dog chains to Stardust with Effect Veiler, negating Trishula's Effect. 2 Fluff Tokens are Special Summoned by Dandylion. Trishula attacks directly. During the End Phase, Stardust Dragon is Special Summoned back.

Dog Normal Summons Thunder King-Rai-Oh and activates Monster Reborn on Guldfaxe. He Synchs both monsters for Scrap Dragon, but Olly flips Solemn Judgment, paying half his Life Points to negate the Summon! With only Guldfaxe in hand, Dog's defeat is hereby sealed!

Olly's Tengu Synchro just keeps up the pace and momentum to keep Dog King from doing anything, and he triumphs 2-0! He will be joining the others in the Top 4. Good effort by the Nordics!

We're down to the last 4 competitors now, and the first match played will be Olly Problem vs Jesse Hall's Geartown Deck! Things are really heating up now, as each match narrows down the competition until only one remains!

Olly Normal Summons Tour Guide From the Underworld, activating its effect to Special Summon Sangan in Defense. He Sets 1 to the backrow.

 

Jesse activates Terraforming, searching his Deck for Geartown. He Sets a Field, and then Sets another Field over the first, activating Geartown's Effect and Special Summoning Ancient Gear Gadjiltron Dragon! He attacks Tour Guide with Gadjiltron and flips his Necrovalley, then plays a card in the Spell and Trap Zone.

Olly Sets a backrow.

 

Jesse activates Pot of Duality, revealing Mystical Space Typhoon, Geartown, and Gravekeeper's Commandant. He adds Mystical Space Typhoon. He attacks Sangan with Gadjiltron, which searches Spirit Reaper. Jesse places a card in the backrow.

 

Olly Sets a card to each Zone. During the End Phase, Jesse activates Mystical Space Typhoon to destroy the newly Set Scapegoat.

 

Jesse activates another Pot of Duality, revealing Necrovalley, Mystical Space Typhoon, and Solemn Warning. He adds Warning to his hand and flips Skill Drain, paying 1000 LP to negate all faceup monster Effects on the Field. Gadjiltron attacks and destroys Spirit Reaper, which can now be destroyed by battle. Jesse Sets a backrow.

Olly Sets a monster.

 

Jesse activates another Pot of Duality, claiming to have opened with all 3 copies. He reveals Malefic Cyber End Dragon, Malefic Stardust Dragon, and Heavy Storm. He adds Malefic Cyber End Dragon to his hand. He attacks Olly's monster with Gadjiltron, destroying Reborn Tengu. Its effect Special Summons another copy.

 

Olly switches Tengu to Defense and ends.

 

Jesse activates Mystical Space Typhoon, targeting and destroying Solemn Warning. He then Normal Summons Gravekeeper's Commandant. Both of his monsters attack, destroying both of Olly's remaining Tengus.

 

Olly Sets a monster.

 

Jesse banishes Cyber End Dragon from the Extra Deck to Special Summon Malefic Cyber End Dragon. Olly negates the Summon with Solemn Warning, at a cost of 2000 Life Points. Commandant attacks and destroys Thunder King Rai-Oh, and Gadjiltron attacks directly.

Olly activates One For One, discarding Tour Guide to Special Summon Glow-Up Bulb from his Deck. He activates Mind Control on Commandant and Synchs both monsters for T.G. Hyper Librarian. As he already knew, Jesse activates Solemn Warning, giving 2000 LP to negate the Summon. Olly concedes, revealing that he had Pot of Avarice and Black Luster Soldier - Envoy of the Beginning, both useless thanks to Necrovalley.

 

Jesse controls Game 1 from the get-go, as Necrovalley, Skill Drain, and Gadjiltron Dragon were too strong and disruptive to overcome! Olly will be starting Game 2!

 

Game 2

 

Olly plays a backrow and Thunder King Rai-Oh.

 

Jesse Sets a Field Spell and Sets a new one over it, activating Geartown's Effect to Special Summon Ancient Gear Gadjiltron Dragon! But this Olly's ready and activates Bottomless Trap Hole, banishing it! It turns out that Jesse only runs a single copy of this card, and this move completely destroys his Geartown plays! He Sets a backrow.

 

Olly activates Mystical Space Typhoon, destroying Solemn Warning. He Normal Summons Reborn Tengu, and both monsters attack directly! He sets a backrow.

 

(Jesse LP: 4400)

 

Jesse activates Necrovalley over his Set Geartown, unable to Special Summon Gadjiltron anyway. He Normal Summons Gravekeeper's Commandant, which gets a 500 ATK and DEF boost from Necrovalley, allowing it to destroy Rai-Oh.He activates Terraforming, searching another copy of Necrovalley. He follows up with Pot of Duality, revealing Thunder King Rai-Oh, Mystical Space Typhoon, and Necrovalley. He adds MST and activates it to destroy Olly's Torrential Tribute.

 

Olly Tributes Tengu for Caius, the Shadow Monarch, activating its effect to banish Commandant. Tengu Special Summons another copy from the Deck, and both attack directly, drastically cutting Jesse's Life!

Jesse activates Pot of Duality, but the cards revealed are of no use and he scoops! Olly's timely use of Bottomless Trap Hole and attacks manage to keep back Jesse's Deck long enough to claim the second game. With a match-up like this, who will come out and win Game 3? Jesse will be starting!

 

Game 3

 

Jesse Sets a Field Spell and 2 backrow, and Normal Summons Thunder King Rai-Oh.

 

As Olly draws, Jesse flips Trap Dustshoot, returning Lonefire Blossom to the Deck. Olly Sets a monster and 3 backrow.

 

Jesse attacks the Set Dandylion with Rai-Oh, and 2 Fluff Tokens are Special Summoned.

 

Olly sets a backrow.

 

Rai-Oh attacks one of the Tokens, and Jesse Sets a backrow.

 

Olly Normal Summons Reborn Tengu, and activates Enemy Controller, Tributing his Fluff Token to take control of Rai-Oh. Both monsters attack directly successfully and Olly Overlays both monsters for Steelswarm Roach! During the End Phase, Jesse activates Mystical Space Typhoon, and destroys Olly's Solemn Judgment.

Jesse Sets a backrow, then Sets a Field Spell over his Geartown, Special Summoning Ancient Gear Gadjiltron Dragon! Olly activates Torrential Tribute, destroying his Roach and Gadjiltron. Jesse flips Necrovalley and Normal Summons Gravekeeper's Commandant, but Olly negates it with Solemn Warning and a payment of 2000 Life Points, no interest!

Olly sets a backrow.

Jesse activates Royal Tribute, stripping Olly's hand of Black Luster Soldier - Envoy of the Beginning. He activates Pot of Duality, revealing 2 copies of Gravekeeper's Commandant and a Skill Drain. He adds Commandant and Normal Summons it, but Olly activates Bottomless Trap Hole to banish it!

 

Olly activates Heavy Storm, destroying Jesse's Necrovalley and 2 copies of Skill Drain. He sets a backrow.

 

Tension mounting, Jesse activates his own Heavy Storm, blowing away Olly's Solemn Warning. He activates Necrovalley and ends.

 

Olly passes! Just who is going to regain the advantage?

 

Jesse activates Terraforming to search Geartown. He ends.

 

Olly draws Tour Guide From the Underworld! He Summons it and Special Summons another from his Deck! He Overlays them to Xyz Summon Leviair, the Sea Dragon! By detaching one Material, he Special Summons Jesse's Commandant. Both of his monsters attack directly! If Jesse doesn't do something this coming turn, Olly will win!

Jesse banishes Stardust Dragon from his Extra Deck to Special Summon Malefic Stardust Dragon! He attacks Commandant.

Olly activates Dark Hole, and Normal Summons Sangan! Sangan charges forward and attacks Jesse directly, winning him the match!

 

A trio of intense games resulted in Olly's victory 2-1 over Jesse's Geartown Deck, and is now in the Finals! Good games!

 

 

 

[spoiler=Top 4 Coverage Match]

The penultimate duel of the Tournament is at hand! The winner of this Duel will face Olly in the Final Match. The matchup is Brandon Geren's Scraps against the feared power of Michael Ojama's Gallis Deck! Who will triumph and take their place in the main stage?

 

After a game of Rock, Paper, Scissors, Brandon will be taking the first turn!

 

Brandon Normal Summons Reborn Tengu. He ends his turn with a backrow.

 

Michael Normal Summons The Agent of Creation - Venus and activates its effect twice, paying 500 LP apiece to Special Summon a Mystical Shine Ball from his Deck. He Overlays both Shine Balls for Gachi Gachi Gantetsu, and Venus attacks, Gachi giving it a 400 ATK boost. Brandon activates Book of Moon, flipping Gachi facedown. With the Xyz facedown, the boost it provided disappears and Venus crashes into Tengu and is destroyed.

Brandon Normal Summons Scrap Beast, and Synchs both monsters for Scrap Dragon! He Summons another Tengu from his Deck. He activates Dragon's effect, destroying Tengu and the facedown Gachi. While facedown, its effect to prevent destruction doesn't apply and it is destroyed. Brandon Special Summons the last Tengu from his Deck, and attacks directly with both monsters. Michael Special Summons Gorz, the Emissary of Darkness after Scrap Dragon's damage, and a Token with 2800 ATK is Summoned!

 

(Michael LP: 2400)

 

The Emissary Token rams Scrap Dragon, which Special Summons Scrap Beast in Defense. Gorz destroys Scrap Beast. Michael Sets a monster.

 

Brandon switches Tengu to Defense.

 

Gorz destroys Tengu, and Brandon activates Scapegoat during the End Phase to Special Summon 4 Sheep Tokens.

 

Brandon activates Pot of Duality, revealing Trap Dustshoot, Horn of the Phantom Beast, and Scrap Chimera. He adds Dustshoot to his hand and Sets it.

 

During the Draw Phase, Brandon flips his Dustshoot and returns Archlord Kristya to the Deck. Michael Normal Summons The Agent of Creation - Venus and reveals Gallis the Star Beast in his hand. Brandon chains with Maxx "C", so that he'll draw every time Michael Special Summons. Gallis mills Effect Veiler and is SSed, inflicting 200 damage to Brandon. Brandon draws 1 by the effect of Maxx "C". Michael destroys 3 of the Sheep Tokens in battle, and Overlays Gallis and Venus during Main Phase 2 to Xyz Summon Wind-Up Zenmaines. Brandon draws 1.

 

Brandon Normal Summons Scrap Chimera, reviving Scrap Beast. He then Synchs his Scraps and the last Token for Scrap Twin Dragon! He Sets a card and uses Scrap Twin's effect to destroy Scrapstorm and bounce Michael's facedown monster and Zenmaines to the hand/Extra Deck, respectively. Scrap Twin then attacks Gorz. Michael Special Summons Tragoedia from his hand.

Michael Normal Summons The Agent of Creation - Venus, and pays 500 for its effect, but Brandon sends Effect Veiler to negate the effect. Michael banishes Venus and Gorz from his Graveyard to Special Summon Chaos Sorcerer. Chaos Sorcerer banishes Scrap Twin. Michael activates Tragoedia's Effect, targeting the Gallis in the Graveyard to become Level 3. He Overlays Venus and Tragoedia for Leviair, the Sea Dragon. He detaches Venus to Special Summon his banished Venus. Both Leviair and Venus attack directly.

Michael activates Monster Reborn on Scrap Dragon. He Normal Summons Scrap Beast and activates Dragon's effect, destroying Beast and Chaos Sorcerer. Beast's effect retrieves Scrap Chimera from the Graveyard. Dragon attacks Venus, wary of giving Michael a tenth monster in the Graveyard.

Michael sets a Monster and switches Leviair to Defense.

 

Brandon activates Mind Control for game! His Scraps manage to keep their offense and defense high and keep Michael from bringing out its most powerful monster.

 

Michael will be starting things off in Game 2!

 

Game 2

 

Michael starts with The Agent of Creation - Venus, and pays 1500 LP to Special Summon 3 copies of Mystical Shine Ball from his Deck. He Overlays 2 of them to Xyz Summon Gachi Gachi Gantetsu.

 

(Michael LP: 6500)

 

Brandon activates Dark Hole, destroying all monsters. Gachi Gachi detaches a Shine Ball to survive. Brandon Normal Summons Thunder King Rai-Oh.

 

Michael Sets a monster.

 

Rai-Oh attacks the facedown Ryko, Lightsworn Hunter, which destroys Rai-Oh and mills Gallis the Star Beast, another Ryko, Lightsworn Hunter, and Black Luster Soldier - Envoy of the Beginning. Brandon activates Monster Reborn on his Rai-Oh and sets a card.

 

Michael banishes Venus from his Graveyard to Special Summon Master Hyperion. Rai-Oh sends itself to the Graveyard to negate the Summon, but Michael discards Herald of Orange Light and The Agent of Mystery - Earth to negate Rai-Oh's effect. Hyperion banishes a Shine Ball from the Graveyard to destroy Brandon's Chain Disappearance. Hyperion attacks directly for a boosted 2900 damage, and Brandon drops Gorz, the Emissary of Darkness, Special Summoning a 2900 Token.

 

(Brandon LP: 5100)

 

Brandon rams the Token into Hyperion and attack Gachi with Gorz, removing its last Xyz Material. He sets a backrow. He could have attacked Gachi first to keep his Token alive and remove Hyperion's boost to inflict 200 damage.

 

Michael Normal Summons The Agent of Mystery - Earth, and activates its effect to add a Venus to his hand. He activates Monster Reborn on Rai-Oh. He Synchs Earth and Rai-Oh for Brionac, Dragon of the Ice Barrier, and activates its effect, discarding Venus to bounce Brandon's facedown card. Then he Special Summons Sephylon, the Ultimate Time Lord, as he now has 10 monsters in the Graveyard! He activates Sephylon's Effect, Special Summoning the Level 8 Master Hyperion from the Graveyard with its effect negated and 4000 ATK! This seals the game!

 

Michael holds out and manages to drop two 4000 ATK beatsticks in the blink of an eye! Against this type of explosive potential in his Deck, can Brandon's Scraps hope to come back and clinch Game 3? Brandon will be starting this final, climactic Duel with the outcome of this tournament on the line.

 

Game 3

 

Brandon activates Pot of Duality, revealing Maxx "C", Mind Control, and Solemn Judgment. He adds Maxx "C", and Normal Summons Reborn Tengu and a backrow.

 

Michael Sets a monster.

 

Brandon Normal Summons Scrap Beast, Synching both monsters for Scrap Dragon. He Summons another Tengu due to its effect and activates Dragon's effect, destroying the Set Ryko, Lightsworn Hunter and his Tengu, Special Summoning the third copy from his Deck. He attacks with both monsters, discarding Maxx "C" from his hand after declaring the attack, obviously concerned about Gorz or Tragoedia.

 

(Michael LP: 3500)

 

Michael Normal Summons Card Trooper and activates its effect, milling 2 copies of Effect Veiler and a copy of The Agent of Creation - Venus. He attacks Tengu, inflicting 200 damage, and Sets a backrow.

 

(Brandon LP: 7800)

 

Brandon activates Pot of Duality, revealing Trap Dustshoot, Scrapstorm, and Scrap Chimera. He adds Dustshoot and attacks Card Trooper with Dragon. Michael draws a card by Trooper's effect. Brandon sets a backrow.

 

(Michael LP: 1100)

 

During the Draw Phase, Brandon flips Trap Dustshoot, wanting insight into Michael's six unknown cards. Michael won't stand by and allow that and flips Solemn Judgment, paying half his remaining Life to negate Dustshoot. Michael banishes Venus from his Graveyard for Master Hyperion. He bounces Hyperion to Special Summon Genex Ally Birdman. He Normal Summons another Genex Ally Birdman and Overlays both Birdman to Xyz Summon Leviair, the Sea Dragon. He detaches a Birdman to try to Special Summon the banished Venus, but Brandon sends Effect Veiler to negate the effect.

 

(Michael LP: 550)

 

With that big play stopped, Michael next banishes Veiler and Birdman from his Graveyard to Special Summon Chaos Sorcerer! Brandon flips Solemn Warning, negating the Summoning for 2000 LP! Michael banishes Chaos Sorcerer and another Veiler for the more powerful Black Luster Soldier - Envoy of the Beginning! He activates Luster's Effect, banishing Scrap Dragon! Leviair attack directly, and Brandon drops Tragoedia!

 

(Brandon LP: 4000)

 

Brandon Normal Summons Thunder King Rai-Oh! He activates Tragoedia's Effect, targeting Scrap Beast to make it Level 4. He then Overlays both monsters to Xyz Summon Number 39: Utopia! Its 2500 ATK takes out Leviair and the remnant of Michael's Life Points!

 

After going through some tough times, Brandon's Scraps overcome Michael's Gallis deck 2-1, and it is he that will be facing off against Olly Problem in the YCM Legends Finals! That is one match that you do NOT want to miss!

How about we get the finals on the last day of the month? XP

 

I quite enjoyed doing the coverages. They can be really tedious sometimes, but otherwise fun. I just wasn't interested in joining as a duelist for this one. Maybe I'll join the next one, but no guarantee.
