White Void Posted November 18, 2011 Report Share Posted November 18, 2011 I believe they were going for the original Jewish meaning of Golem here, an inanimate being made out of non-living material and given life with the purpose to protect and serve its master. Makes perfect sense really, Catastor was dead/inactive and the Verz Infestation decided to use its shell to further spread its purpose of complete destruction. I believe the reason it's Rock and not Machine is because the machinery powering Catastor has died, it is now simply a shell for whatever Verz has infected it. It's not much of a machine if its being used as armor/a host instead of functioning on its own. Also to go with the myth, golems were usually made of clay and earthly materials. Given that we have Thanatos and Ouroborus depictions that are pretty accurate, I'm positive this is what they were going for. As for the card itself, I think I'd run maybe one in Verz as a potential out to a threat. Castor and Mandrago make the level 5 of it not quite as bad. Noticing that it's weapon systems were still operational, it inhibited Catastor's body and used it as a shell, while also being able to trigger it's various weaponry against non-DARK monsters.
