Suggesting that the Internet is seperate from "real life" is "equatable" to batshit lunacy.
There is a fine line between the two, sir Rakim. The Internet leans more to knowledge, while real life leans more to activity and health.

Well I have already been Perma'd from here before. If it happens again this time around though, I think I will be done for.

Bring back Crab Helmet. I have nobody to disagree with now.
The reason Crab got banned was because she merged YCMaker's account with another one, essentially deleting him.
So he responded by taking the site down for a few days, got his account back, then perma'd Crab.

It's completely, totally different.

Internet communities are different from IRL communities because, on the internet, you have no rights whatsoever and expressly agree to interact with others based on the written rules and whims of those in charge, and there's no "internet court" that determines if it's fair.

Not only that but outside of illegal activities such as DDoSing, there's inherently nothing the users can do aside from leave.

(the cynical or paranoid could potentially apply the above to IRL too, though, if you want to go that far)

Crab has been unbanned forever. :/

OT: Rule 0: Do not make the forum a crappier place every time you post, especially after you have been warned to improve.

If someone is hated by everyone, regardless if they mean to or not, then every time they post is likely to start an argument. They would then not be welcomed back. I don't see how that is a bad thing, besides I might hurt his/her feelings because he/she couldn't fit in. This maybe the Internet, but just like irl, you don't always fit in with everyone.

Man

Now I kinda wish we had internet court functions for forums and such =/
I do, too, the trouble that most people just can't be bothered. It's kind of understandable why people don't take the time and effort to actually try to do something like that, but part of me thinks that if you really care, why not just try it?

We at least need interventions. People who don't improve, don't show signs of improvement, don't accept that they need to improve, or lie about wanting to improve have no reason to be here other than to troll.

So basically, if someone gets hated enough, we let them know, try to figure out how they can improve, and if they don't over an extended period of time, then the moderators can decide what to do with them.

100% of what I do on this site is trolling.

Interventions only work best irl when you can accurately display emotions and such

Plus, not only are you only using words, but in most cases, you hardly know anything about the person in question.

And then there's the fact that "trolling" isn't a drug addiction, it's the douchebaggery we expect when you combine anonymity with the potential of posting whatever you want to a large audience of people. Ever heard of GIFT? (I'm assuming some of the language involved with the Tv Tropes page probably isn't appropriate for children. So go at your own peril HAHAHAHA!)

You only troll, too?
No, that you only troll. I tend to be serious from time to time.
Heh? Please don't tell me you have been trolling me and manipulating my emotions this entire time.

She has. It's her specialty.

[background=rgb(251, 253, 254)]No, the internet is very much within the boundaries of "real life", there is no more of a dimensional disconnect between the two than there is between that which you've committed to paper and "real life".
