Marisa Kirisame-ze
How can you all do so well without studying? I mean, I'm assuming most of you are older than me or the same age, so I'd think your courses would be harder than mine, and in need of a lot of work. But then again, there is such a thing as natural smarts, and I'm sure you all have that. Before my junior year, I could maintain an A/B average without studying, but now it's just impossible.
At elementary and high school, my summer vacation didn't start until June, but even then that was no latter than the second week of June. It's different now that I'm at a community college. If it makes you feel any better, I still need to catch, but yeah, it's gotten pretty lengthy. Homestuck is the kind of thing where the sheer length of it can make it an intimidating story to get through.
Ah, well, that'd make sense! You're in sort of the same schedule as my brother then. I love college schedules, especially since you get to pick your classes and it doesn't have to be at 8 AM, and the year is a faster pace and goes by in a snap. And yeah, seriously! There's so much to read and understand that I could only really sit down and do it if I had absolutely nothing else to do.
Tourmaline
Studying for school isn't necessary if you want to do alright for me. In high school, I was able to have an 82 average without touching a book and tries the same thing in college but only managed a 78 average, despite the enormous importance of reading the notes and books. My mother certainly wasted money on them, but reading them consistently definitely would have helped, since the two averages are pretty much absolute apathy and riddled with depressive phases. I haven't chosen a class that started any earlier than 9 AM, or later than 3:30 PM. I started Homestuck a couple years ago, and I read it during my senior year of high school. The way I remember that is because in my IB English class, we all had to do an assignment where we had to record words we were unfamiliar with, and a majority of my words were taken from Homestuck, particularly the part where Dave reads Rose's wizard fanfic. My teacher wrote a novel in my journal saying "Is this a good book?", to which I told her "No, it's a comic, and it's not actually appropriate for school." Aerion Brightflame
I normally never bother revising or studying up till the last few moments. However, one thing I've discovered recently is the A-levels I am doing are hard to make up on the spot. So I have lots of cramming to do... However not doing revision got me a's and a*'s at GCSE, which doesn't sound impressive compared to everyone else.

No schools in my county get out earlier than mid June, and that's without snow days. We start right after labor day, and 1st period starts at 7:20 I seriously cannot wait for college. Also Homestuck is amazing again. For a little while it dropped off when they were delving into the dream bubbles and getting more of a narrative rather than like, an action-packed adventure. But it's back now! As for all the ridiculously long texts to read, I can skip a lot depending on the characters. I don't read anything related to stupid joke stuff like Roxy's wizard novel, because I find it utterly useless. I'm taking 4 AP classes, and I'm not able to get my homework done on time because I'm too exhausted from sports. That, and I procrastinate a lot. And there is absolutely no way I'd be able to get anything above a C in Calculus if I didn't study. That class is so ridiculously hard, the only thing keeping me at a B+ is that I love math. My worst class is AP Language & Composition. I'm a pretty good writer, but I am incapable of writing a coherent, well thought-out 4 paragraph essay, with each paragraph averaging 7 sentences, in 35 minutes. My brain just does not spit out prose that quickly. I could easily slack off if I didn't want to get into really tough schools. MIT, Carnegie Mellon... they make your life a nightmare Junior year. Mind explaining?
It's a movie adapted from a book, starring Jennifer Lawrence and Bradley Cooper (and I'm pretty sure the dad from Bend it Like Beckham played the therapist or something). But it's just really something else. It's a romance and drama and comedy, but deals with mental illness and bits on psychology. It doesn't go all deep into it, with some educational theme on that sort of stuff, but it's just the story of two people who are "crazy" and become friends because of their common illness, and then it dives deeper than that. But it's truly a beautiful story, and the acting is phenomenal, and you'll be beyond entertained. Jennifer Lawrence's performance is just...I don't even know, there are no words. She's only 21, but she'll definitely be nominated for an Oscar already. She deserves it. Her character is really the main appeal of the story. She plays Tiffany, who causes scenes and says what she wants and gets pissed off easily, but she realizes what she's doing, and sometimes calms down and make things right. But there's really no use explaining it, you just have to see it for yourself. She's my favorite fictional movie character of all time now. Phantom Roxas
Jennifer Lawrence and Bradley Cooper? Marisa Kirisame-ze
Remnants: That's so short ;(( I'm sorry yours was not even a week, but thank you! And it's the type of movie that you should see alone if no one will come with you, it's THAT worth it haha. And sounds like you're in a really neat, classy family. It's good to be involved in the arts. Actually, to me, it's the best thing you can do. Roxas: You must go see it! It's been out for a long while, and I'm pretty sure the date that it'll be in theatres was extended. It was phenomenal. I haven't seen that X Men movie or Winter's Bone, and The Hunger Games is a pretty good way to see how talented JLaw is, but Silver Linings Playbook was probably her best performance yet. There's just so much to her character, all these twists and turns (considering the character's bipolar), so it was amazing to watch. Especially for someone who wants to be in films, I was blown away. So please see it if you can! And ah, I watched that movie once before! Can't say it appealed to me much, but it wasn't so bad. Haven't read it or anything though, but the movie was okay. The only time I was really fascinated in my classes literature was when we got to learn about Edgar Allan Poe in the 8th grade, along with Emily Dickinson and other really dark writers. It was the best year I had in English classes, even though it continues to be my best subject.
Phantom Roxas
[s]JLaw = Jude Law?[/s] I never saw Winter's Bone either. I've also considered getting into movies, or just acting in general, and I took a theatre class this semester, and got an A in that. One of my biggest regrets is that I auditioned for the role of Jonathan Harker in my high school's production of Dracula, and despite winning the role, I chose to turn it down immediately because I didn't think I would be able to commit to it (Just look at how often I'm online…) and my own prudishness made me nervous about the scene where Dracula's wives attempt to seduce him.
Just had an amazing flashback to a hilarious SNL cold open based on Wayne's World. I could never take Winter's Bone seriously after that. I've taken theater before, mainly for the experience. I do consider myself a patron of the arts, but I left behind any minor dreams of performing back in elementary school. I've never had any problems getting the roles I audition for, but I find acting to be too rehearsed for my taste. When I feel the need for drama, excitement, or performance, I just go on an adventure with my friends. I like to think of the world as my stage. I can do everything and anything on it simply for the sake of living it like it's all a big show. The reality sets in a lot quicker though when I do something ridiculous or over the top and hurt myself, but each memory I make with others is amazing and lasts a lifetime, regardless of the outcome. The theater department is also a put-off in that the kids are too... "eccentric" for my tastes. I understand freedom of expression and letting go of inhibitions, but some part of me just can't help but think of the actors at my school as being really weird. I'm still friends with plenty of them, but I could never be one of them like I am with my teammates or my Computer Science/Math classmates. And that's just fine by me, as I'm a lot more comfortable with calculations, logic puzzles, and getting in all sorts of trouble than I am with acting on a stage or letting people look at me for my physical appearance.
