m.s.t. vs. d.t.

which is better to use: mystical space typhoon or dust tornado?

these are the effects:

mystical space typhoon

Target 1 Spell/Trap Card on the fielddestroy that target.

dust tornado

Target 1 Spell/Trap Card your opponent controlsdestroy that target, then you can Set 1 Spell/Trap Card from your hand.

these two cards are very useful in the game, but which is better to use?especially when it comes to the timing a card is played ,like when someone sets a card,  equip it to monster, or activates a card which stops you from attacking, on the field.

need some help please...

MST can be activated immediately without setup.

MST can destroy your own Spell/Trap Cards as an option (more options are more options)

It's more likely you bump into a 7 Tools, Royal Decree, Trap Stun, than the odds of you bumping into a Spell-negating card.

MST wins this one.

There's also the ability to get around Naturia Beast, which is not so common. Nonetheless it's a poor man's MST.

But MST is not expensive. XD

But these guys have a point, MST acts faster. Now say your opponent has something that stops Spell activation? You play this. Maybe a Side Deck card, but then again, I don't side deck.

Dust Tornado's only real advantages over MST is that it bypasses anti-Spell cards such as Spell Canceller (which isn't much of a point because Traps are more easily countered than Spells due to Jinzo and Royal Decree) and that it can Set a card during your opponent's turn, which makes it a lot safer from card effects. However, there aren't many of those cards (pretty much CotH-like cards and the late Ultimate Offering) and by doing so, your opponent will know that the card you just Set during their turn is probably important, and will go after it with another removal card provided they have one. Oh, and Night Beam makes this tactic cry, if anyone still runs that.

At least you can chain Dust Tornado to MST for a better reason than "for teh lulz."

So yeah, everything everyone else already said.

Actually, with regards to Hotel Mario's post-
Technically the only advantage Dust has is it's second effect.
I mean, things like non-Aggression Area and other cards you would want activated right away on your turn, can benefit from Tornado.

1. Neither negate.
2. You can't activate Traps the turn you set them. That's why Scrap-Iron Scarecrow isn't OP.

so which is better to use then?

among everything you have suggested...?

From everyone: MST. No contest.

People are talking about the small and situational bits that can justify using Dust Tornado, but 90% of the time, MST is the staple choice, and the other 10% the benefit is not even that great anyways.

MST.

MST.

MST.

Then I guess you haven't played against people who constantly believe that MST negates.

OT: I'll take MST unless I need more S/T removal. That's when Dust Tornado can play. Other than that, MST all the way.

I managed to find people like that on PercyPro. And in real life...

Yeah, MST is undeniably the better card. Don't even run Dust Tornado. Don't even acknowledge its existence.

Dust Tornado is a good sideboard because of the ability to have more S/T removal for hate traps (i.e. Decree, Gozen/Rivalry, SIP/LIP, etc) but you should only be playing it if you're already playing 3 MST among your main and side. If you're not playing 3 MST already, probably best to max that before thinking about using it.

Most of the decks I play are so low-trap that I'd rather side into Decree or Trap Stun.
